BOO! It's A Hallowe'en MMP

Right in front of me. But if you want pinking shears I’ll need a few minutes; I forget just where I left those last time I had them out.

I haven’t been able to ride my motorcycles in the last couple of years. Either I had no time, or the weather was bad. Today I decided to get them started.

I couldn’t get the seat off of my 1994 Yamaha Seca II so that I could charge the battery. I couldn’t get the gas lid open on the 2002 Yamaha YZF-R1 so I could suck the water out of the tank. (I know the R1’s battery needs to be replaced.) I finally did get the seat off of the Seca II by sitting on it and then turning the key. The charger is on it now. But I can’t get its gas lid open.

Waiting for a call-back from a towing company to see how much it will cost to get them to the guy who works on my MG.

Quiche for supper - it’ll be done in about 20-ish minutes.

That’s all I got. It’s been one of those days, but only 19 more to go.

Assuming you wanted to run on probably-bad-gas -------- could you bump start/catch in gear either of them? That was always my fall-back for bad batteries especially with chain drives.

Got a trailer reserved at U-Haul for Thursday.

Mrs. L.A. wanted to go to the oyster bar for beers. They were closed today. We went across the street at 1510, and they’d closed ten minutes earlier. We went to our favourite steak house, but they didn’t open for another 45 minutes. We ended up going back home to a place down the street. I had a couple of Irish Death porters, she had a local IPA. We both had a shrimp cocktail, and we split an order of calamari.

We went to the liquor store next door, and I lost my balance going in. I was wearing my ‘muckers’ (old shoes I use for yard work), and they’re not as stable as my regular shoes. Great. I bought a bottle of Carolan’s Irish Cream, and a bottle of Pernod. Dessert!

peaches, the scissors are on my desk. The pinking shears are in the drawer  My mom made angel and cupid costumes for my two youngest sisters when they were preschoolers from an old sheet. She just made a basic tunic for each and they wore a white blouse under it. The wings/bow and arrow were cut from cardboard, covered with tinfoil and tied with butcher’s twine. They were quite cute.

Johnny, do you have a pickup truck (and for bonus points, a low boy) available? I know my '84 Kawasaki or my former neighbor’s Shadow will fit in the bed of an S10, and if the trailer is available, they’re even more securable.

I spoke too soon about EoM being a piece of cake this month. My manager, who is usually very competent and quite sensible, decided to run a whole mess of requested counts today, meaning that I didn’t get out until 5:30. Nelson will be in the new daycare tomorrow and Thursday because of that. One of his little dog park buddys goes to this one and a neighbor who he’s familiar with (she’s nicknamed him Scrappy Doo) works there. I’ll need to leave a half hour early to get him settled in.

Found good-enough scissors. About .75 finished with the Charlotte costume. It’s really cute. Pix forthcoming.

I’m gonna be Cassandra for Halloween, though.

Today, Girl 2.0 needs a bunch of documents for a scholarship application due tomorrow. An application that she ignored in the spring, and for the two months I’ve nagged this semester. I’m supposed to magically produce those documents by midnight.

Even better: two years ago, while rebuilding my grandparents’ house for my parents, after stabilizing the framing and walls: “Ma, I’m gonna check the roof and at least seal around the plumbing stack.”

“No, the roof is fine.”

Install new ceiling in bathroom. Obvious signs of leak appear.

“Mama, just hold the ladder, I need to check the roof.”

“Oh, it’s fine.”

Tonight at 8 pm: “We have a big leak in the bathroom/utility. Who should I call?”

“Me, two years ago. I’ll be out in the morning.”

“But I know you’re scared of heights!”

“Yup. Which is why I’d have rather you’d held the ladder and let me do this shit when it was dry and sunny. But here we are.”

(My brother is also afraid of heights, so I’m not throwing it to him. It’s just sealing around the plumbing stack. Which should have happened 2 years ago. The roof is okay. Mama just thought it was better to not make me climb, right up until the emergency.)

I have a Jeep Cherokee that needs some exercise.

At irk early to escort the glass dude between 830 and 9. 930 nothing. Call at 10. Oh I called your earlier. No the hell you didn’t unless you called at 5 in the morning which is when I woke. Windshield came in damaged purportedly. We can come tomorrow. Ok. Same times? Yes. Now I ain’t gonna be there cause I have a flipping dentist appointment at 0810. I swore they said 830 but what ever. Clerks will have to deal with glass dude.

I went ahead and req full day off tomorrow. Asshole acting director took a long time to answer(was gonna do it anyway) them later replied “OK if your program is covered”. I have NEVER left my program not covered. Kinda pissed me off. I don’t want to argue with him so I did not respond. Left irk, drove forever and stopped at the store and came home and cooked a big meal and semi cleaned the kitchen. Looks like I need to awake extra early tomorrow to ready for the maid and make that 0810 dentist appt.

Calgon take me away.

Toss the OW??? :o
Changes at irk; don’t know what yet.

Finally made it to the top (of the second page).

Soccer practiced, rain due for the next two days, so need to tidy up the house some.

Butters, I’d be P.O.'ed too; is he likely to get the job full-time?

Peaches, I ignored a leaky spot for months (well, years) before finally getting professionals in to review and repair it.

All y’all have a good night now.

Happy (almost) Halloween. We’ve got the costumes set for the kids. I keep forgetting to get the chocolates though…

The movers are supposed to bring the rest of our things on Halloween, which now seems like a terrible idea. Oh well.

The winds are still promised to return, but haven’t arrived yet. I hope the forecasters are wrong this time.

Ruble clicking on that link led me down quite the rabbit hole of fine antique furniture.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 73 Amurrkin out and rainy(ish) with a predicted high of 80 with rain/tstorms/apocalypse predicted for the day. So, yestiddy, the counters and sink were installed, but the sink is not connected to plumbin’. I was told the folks who were here yestiddy would do that but they said they don’t do that. I went to war with Home Despot as that was included in the price and already paid for. Got all that taken off the credit card and called my go to guy for stuff like this. He shall be here this mornin’ to hook up the sink. AAARRRGGGHHH!!! So that shall be dealt with today along with the layin’ in of provisions and takin’ care of [del]church janitor[/del] Junior Warden duties over to the church house. Rain is also predicted tomorrow but should go away before the candy beggars hit the streets.

Now I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy wants to be fed. Then I shall purtify, and, alas, alack, and bother, don bein’ about the public attire. Fortunately I can trust go to guy (also a friend) to be in da cave when I’m not here. Heck, if he wants, he even knows he could make himself a sammich and/or get sump’n to drink whilst here. He’ll get the job done so that’s all good by me.

Happy Hump Day Y’all!

I had something profound to share this morning, but for the life of me, I can’t recall what it was… dammit. :stuck_out_tongue:

The talk of angel costumes reminded me of my baby sister (who’s now 54) when she was about 3 or 4. Her costume was actually a nightgown - white with ruffles around the hem and (I think) the sleeves. On the front in gold, it said “Little Angel Child”. At the time, that sister had a headful of golden curls. My, how she’s changed.

Much work awaits me today, so I shall dive in.

Happy Wednesday!

Oh, yeah, and GO NATS!!!

Happy Hump Day!

It’s a still dark 54 degrees outside. Supposed to be cloudy all day with some rain this afternoon.

Internet went out sometime in the middle of the night. I had my son get up this morning to do the router thingie. I’d do it myself but I can’t get the little door open to get the batteries out.
I woke up too early this morning, because I managed to sleep through the night without getting up to pee. So instead of getting up at 2:30ish and going beck to bed, I got up at 5:30ish.
If my son had still been up, I could have sent Echo downstairs so he could let her out, but since he was in bed, I had to walk down to do it. Once I get dressed and walk downstairs, I’m going to be too awake to go back to bed.

MetalMouse, Huntsville looks tempting.
Little more pricey than here. I only paid $90,000 for my 1500 sq foot, 3BD, 1-1/2 bath house 5 years ago. Of course I have a much smaller yard, and have to share a wall with a neighbor. My taxes are almost twice yours, but only because I live it the city and have to pay both city and county taxes. Which is strange, because people in Baltimore City only pay city taxes.
I always think it is strange that I live in a ‘city’ anyway. It’s way smaller than the town I grew up in.
Other than having mayor, I don’t know what really makes a city different from a town.
I suppose I should look that up one day.

Then again, I once stumped some watermen when I asked them what is the difference between a creek and a river. The consensus seemed to be that if whoever named it called it a creek, then it is a creek, and if they called it a river, then it is a river.

Too much thinking this early in the morning.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to work.

Had weird dreams last night about going through stuff but not being able to the find the important stuff I needed.

I think that was a hint to get back to KonMariing the house.

I was putting some stuff away last night and found other things I forgot I had, and there is something I’m looking for that I can’t find.
I hate clutter, but it just seems to multiply.
I think the person who develops and markets a clutter control pill will make a fortune.

I’m in Hampshire (the original one) and several of the houses in my neighborhood are decorated; my client is holding a Dia de los Muertos event and a Halloween one. My apartment is part of a locked complex, so I don’t think I’m likely to get trick-or-treaters.

Now if my boss can tell me whether I’m supposed to be traveling next weekend or not so I can buy tickets or not, that would be bloody nice.

Do you live in Summer? It’s 27 or 31 here, depending if I look at weather-dot-com or weatherunderground. And dark. The Sun won’t come up for another half an hour.

Morning all. Rain has arrived and looks to be around for most of the day. Need to get some sustenance soon. 68F out, so the heating costs will stay low today.

flyboy, swampy lives down is S. Georgia (read: almost Florida) and has often made us jealous during the winter season. Of course sometimes he gets bits of hurricanes…

swampy, glad you got the Home Depot to refund. Never have had them do major work and sounds like that is a policy to keep.

sunny, sounds like Halloween day will be…interesting. hang in there.

OK, time to forage. I wonder how raisin toast works as a BLT? Or even simply as a B?
