*BOOM Goes the Dynamite - SDMB Pokertropolis First Quarter, 2006

Yeah, I been playing too many freerolls lately. Shoulda played smarter. Thrilled that I’m still in second. (If I am.)

Oslo, Happy Early Birthday. Yeah, mine’s the 12th too.

Yes, I got the hangover I deserved and then some. You’re never too old to be stupid, huh?

Well, the podcast I listen to sponsored a freeroll. 56 players entered, top 15 got paid. I was the chip leader for quite a while, made it to the final table, and then stuck around, with some good luck, to be in the final two. Came in second when I was starting to get really short-stacked and went all-in with A5 off against suited KQ. Still won $25, though. And unlike lots of freerolls, I don’t have to clear the amount first.

Now there’s a $3 buy-in, with fewer people. Going to play that one as well. Right now, the prizes are lower than they were in the freeroll.

Back in the saddle again. I won a $1+.20 5T SnG at PStars last night. Woo Hoo! Fourteen bucks. I really should just play those and avoid everything else…

Hey, can someone send me a copy of the spreadsheet? The aforementioned other message board is interested in a ranking system and I thought I might be able to offer this one up.

Spreadsheet on it’s way to Aster and Oslo.

Ahhhh, that’s a little better.

If I go up 4 spots for every win, I’ll be right there on top by the end of the quarter.

Only 6 more hours and Yeti can defend his honor!

What time does the tournament go up these days? Lord I hate Allen. Please smite him.

Hopefully I’ll make my triumphant dead-money return tonight.

You better watch cussing Allen. Last time I did that, I got miserable hands all night.

I’ve joined in the Allen baiting, and hopefully we’ll have a game tonight.

Man, I missed the end of the game! Too much going on, I shouldn’t have even played.

Looks like Nesta made a nice comeback, OMD put that damn Yeti in his place.

I see that second place finish vaulted Yeti from 13th to 12th, and Capn is no longer the cellar dweller.

GG all, only 2 more weeks this Q. Next week is the real killer for me, the party circuit starts next Friday, I have to be up at 4 for a lovely 9hr drive to Houston. At least I don’t have to juice no friggen limes Thursday night.

Just a friendly reminder that today is Thursday, and I want to show that my win last week was not just a fluke. I have to think it’s my second fluke win of the season, or else maybe I’m just not that bad.

Here’s to hoping we don’t need to poke a sleeping Allen too hard.

…but my pointy stick is ready.

I’m likely out for tonight (last week of trivia, next week is the party). After that I should be good to go. I don’t think I’d even have the chance to bot it even if a sleeping Allen was poked early.

Let’s see…I’ll pick OMD to repeat.

I had to belittle Allen’s mother’s sexual purity (Yo mama’s such a ho…), but he eventually caved and the game is now up.

The smallest table in a long while.

And the longest game. Ever. Clocking in at around 2H40M. An insane night of traded blows and vicious takeouts.

Even though I came in third (at 2H20M), I still feel like a winner.

I said this with four players left and I’ll say it again; that’s the best poker game I’ve ever been in. Nobody could hold the lead, and low stacks made great comebacks. When it got to three players we were within 1,000 chips of each other. It was a pleasure just to be in that one. Congrats to everybody.
