We already have a thread going, but that’s for co-op organization (though if that just ends up becoming the discussion thread than whatever). I can’t say anything other than I loved Borderlands and can’t wait for this to finish installing. I’ll probably play Siren, try Assassin, and then do Mechromancer once it comes out, all solo. I am a little sad I can’t be Lilith again, but at least she’s in the game along with the other vault hunters.
What’s everyone else doing?
ETA: Because I always forget to say and everyone complains, Borderlands is a First Person Shoot-em and loot-em game (think an FPS Diablo/WoW mix without randomly generated levels) that can be played single player or with up to 3 friends. The focus is not on PvP, but on co-op questing and dungeon clearing. It’s similar to an offline MMO in questing structure.
Depends where you live. It did release in the US already, but still like 55 hours for us EU people. Not sure which midnight (GMT, CET, EET) it launches on.
I’ll be playing when I get home. I’ll probably play either gunzerker or commando for my solo game, and for my 4-player co-cop I’m going to be either commando or siren (the Joystiq review called them a kind of support mage class, which sounds really neat).
Pre-loaded last night! All I have to do is make it through the day…
Does anyone else have Physx turned up all the way?
Oh my god, the second boss (a duo of crazy guys)… there are no words. I have NEVER seen so much debris littering a battlefield in a game before! It was so amazing!
Have two plays going so far. I have an assassin at 13. I soloed him until level 8 and played the next 5 levels coop with a siren. So far the assassin seemed weak by himself I had some boss troubles. When coop with the siren I did better, but I feel that the siren was a much better teammate then I was. His ability to temporarily remove badasses from battle was pretty helpful. I also played a gunzerker coop with a buddy up to lvl eight. He was playing the commando. The commando’s turret was probably the most useful skill I have seen so far. It does ok damage and pulls aggro. I.didn’t care for my ability at first but a couple of skills in I am really liking him. I also picked up a very good shotgun for my level early on and have been exploding people.
Still waiting for unlock in our neck of the woods. But the most important question of all:
Is the opening theme song as awesome as “Ain’t No Rest For The Wicked”? That song made it onto my music playlists, I love it so much. I’m listening to it right now, actually.
Still 11 hours until it unlocks for Australia. Played the hell out of BL1 with the Soldier & Sniper (loved the gunslinger spec with revolvers). Still fire it up occasionally for some solo gunplay.
Looking forward to this one a lot.
I still have “No Heaven” from the BL1 trailer on my playlists.
Sad now “Ain’t No Rest” was just awesome, IMO it fit the kind of junky, run-down theme of the game perfectly. I still love that intro sequence where you meet the characters. Brick
My So and I played for quite some time last night. It’s pretty awesome, though it seems a little tougher. I’m the robot ninja assassin; he’s the ridiculously good-looking soldier.
The lines are great.
“But that was awesome! Didn’t you think it was awesome!”
“MINION! YOUR MASTER NEEDS YOU!” I never stop laughing at that Claptrap.
I am not very happy about what they did to the new siren, her powers feel like a massive nerf. In the first one I could run up to a bunch of enemies, shift/explode hurting them all and causing status damage, run around any I didn’t get, causing them status damage, unshift causing more damage and then run away while I recharged. I also had a universal oh shit button. Now the best I can do is disable one guy for a little bit, which doesn’t help if there is 20 more shooting at me. The skill tree on the left looks promising, I am looking forward to making enemies kill each other off, but I’m only level 12 so thats a long way away. And as if to rub it in, when Lillith from the first game shows up, her powers have been turned up to 11, and she is doing all the things I wanna be doing, but with even more devastating effectiveness.
Having a blast with the Commando. The turret is a lot of fun and pretty effective.
Some of the new gun designs are great. Currently using an assault rifle with three rotating barrels that spin up to firing speed: bang bang bang bang bang bangbangbangbang! It also does explosive damage
Not found much else yet.
As an aside, the song used in the intro “Aint no place for a hero”. What genre of music would that be?
I played a bit of co-op with my friends today. I think I’m definitely going to do a co-op only character for that purpose. It was fun but I really like taking the story at my own pace – it was just way too hectic with three people. That said, while I felt under-powered damage-wise, I felt like my ability contributed a lot to the fight. Phaselock is so-so in single player, mostly useful for hitting things with shields or behind cover. In multiplayer where several badasses might spawn it’s an absolute godsend.
Unfortunately, one of my friend joined at level 2 (in a level 14 part of the adventure), so we had 3x damage/hp mobs and not nearly enough damage output to take them. We got through, but it took a few deaths and I was almost perpetually out of ammo.
Also, the scene where Lilith appears made me so happy (I won’t say any more, but what I said isn’t a spoiler since the old vault hunters presence in the game is common knowledge). It DID make me realize how much more I liked my Lilith’s playstyle than Maya’s, though.
Minor Lilith spoiler that you likely won’t put together until after the fact (about her subtitle on her into screen):
I do love how they basically just flat out acknowledge that everybody played a fire build Lilith.
