Boston Dopefest: McCormick & Schmick (at Quincy Market) - Wednesday July 11th, 6:30pm

Where does it talk about the Dopefest?

People, I am about to get whooshed.

The reference was to the city of Boston, not us.

Okay, since no one disagrees with going to the Oyster House should we ask a mod to change the title of our thread like all those other cool dopefests are doing?

“Boston Dopefest: Union Oyster House - Wednesday July 11th, 6:30pm”

Yay, nay?

I know. That’s just me being me.

Did anyone answer you one this? I think the general concensus on this is Get your ass down here!

Did we finally agree to Union Oyster House? I got the impression that it’s a pretty tiny place with little booths. Can they handle a large party?

That was my thought too. Which is why I brought up the thought of somewhere else (see post #45 ), there doesn’t seem to be any other concencus though. So the Oyster House seems fine, my vote would be for The Boston Beer Works on Canal St. in Boston. Though I will be attending wherever.

The only thing to keep in mind about Boston Beer Works is that they don’t serve any hard liquor. I can’t speak for everyone of course, but in my world, that’s a dealbreaker.

How do people feel about Japanese food? And how do people feel about meeting in Brookline? Because I know of a great place that can satisfy all these needs.

How does everyone feel about foot odor?

I hope this isn’t a Thing We Don’t Discuss that I missed out on, but whatever happeded to Tanookie and Parallax? I was looking at the old Yahoo Boston Dopers Group the other day and it got me thinking and then a saw this thread.

I should add that for social reasons, we may want to make the shape of the table more of a consideration than the cuisine. I’ll once again put forth my suggestion of somewhere in Chinatown. Most of those places have big round tables.

'The hell? The board ate my last post.

Union Oyster House can accomodate us all, but only at seperate tables in the same area. Apparently they can’t push tables together. We can get a function room for an additional $150.

Thoughts?

That’s extremely weird, tdn. I saw your post, and went back to count and, by the time I advanced to page 2, it was gone.

Anyhow, I only get 11 people who were even definite enough, without the usual attrition and all that. Not a compelling number for a private room.

I am game for Chinatown and/or alternate suggestions.

Yeah, if we had a solid 20, I’d be willing to pay $7.50 for a room, but maybe not everyone would. Even then, that’s $22.50 extra for CalMeacham.

Can we fit 11 around one of those tables at Peach Farm? And would the food be too weird for some of us? (Not me, of course. I loves me some pickled squid eyeballs.)

Function room seems a bit much without a solid number on attendance. Please just count me under ‘attending’ and ‘anywhere’.

Is it really a deal-breaker? Because so far it seems like our best choice.

I’m not nuts about Uno, but I can deal with it. We’re just over a week from the event, so we need to choose something pretty quickly.

OK, well, going with the list of possibilities from Page 1 and some others that have been brought up:

The Union Oyster House–NO
Durgin Park–NO
Boston Beerworks–NO
Uno’s—not first choice
Rock Bottom
Kinsdale
Hooters
Peach Farm
Japanese place in Brookline
Other

McCormick and Scmick’s has a pretty cheap Happy Hour menu, but perhaps I am just muddying the waters with more suggestions.

That sounds good to me! And we have two to choose from. I’d prefer the one in Quincy Market.

OK, let’s you and I be the decision-makers here.
McCormick and Schmick’s at Quincy Market.
Wednesday, July 11th,6:30pm.

Objections? I’d say we can entertain objections for the next day or 2, but should nail this baby down quickly, especially with the holiday coming up and people likely being away and all that.

Don’t make your plans based on my preferences, I’m not sure I can make it.

Never mind, McCormick & Schmick it is!

Agreed.
