Just thought I’d remind you all that BL returns after a 2 week hiatus on a different night. It will the the first part of a 2 parter with the 2nd part to air on Tuesday.
I for one can’t wait for a new installment of TV’s whakiest show. Shirley gains a new lover wannabe and Jerry of the blow-up companion returns. And one can only hope that Denny will begin having his conversations sitting down. Daddy? Is he or isn’t he?
One-time deal, as far as I know. Their normal Tuesday night slot was filled on ABC the last couple of the weeks by ‘special event’ stuff, but they still have a certain amount of episodes they want to get through by the winter break, and the show has had success in the Sunday slot before, so…
(…much happy time for us with two new episodes in three days!)
I saw this a couple of days ago (ánd suspect a Canadian source). A good episode, but those that hate Candice Bergen will be upset.
One question about expletives and FCC dirty words (I put this in spoiler tags, since it involves a character’s action and motivation):
The way Denise used ‘screw’ - isn’t that a big no-no. I can’t remember hearing it before on broadcast tv shows from the U.S.
Just how many people is Lincoln Myer going to knock off before somebody figures it out?? Yeesh. I must say, the actor is doing a great job with this character. ditto for the guy playing Jerry Espensen, btw.
I loved the cue cards. How else to explain Denny’s sudden eloquence?
Didn’t like Alan’s behavior with Denise. Pervy. But it might work. She looked intrigued. But if she’s horny, why not smile at Brad? He’s good for a go.
I was starting to get into Bethany and Denny. Momma needs to back off. The tackles were funny though.
But she has already been there and done that with Brad. Alan is a tantalizing, risky, and somewhat disreputable choice. In the days of my youth, I noticed that, at times of maximum horniness, the bad boys often seem vastly more attractive than the straight-arrow nice guys. Ladies love outlaws, and all that. Besides, I’d take the archly witty (but somewhat pudgy) James Spader over the rather blank (if rather muscular) Mark Valley any time. I bet lots of gals would.
While I do still like this show immensely, I think it is taking a turn for the worse.
Last night’s ep was a little too over the top for me. Several things bugged me:
Lincoln Myer has turned annoying and him sneaking into Gracie Jane’s hotel room was just too :dubious:
The whole thing about Denise being horny then NOT taking Alan up on his offer was just stupid. Then she shows up on the balcony…for no real reason at all.
Oh, and now Coho the “new guy” is lusting after Shirley.
Shirley being kidnapped at the end…oh come on!!! Is this One Life to Live or something??
The hanging lesbian ex-lover case…yawn. So I suppose the suspect will be kidnapping Alan next week? I did love seeing Missy Pyle from Galaxy Quest playing the quirky girlfriend of the dead woman…she plays quirky really well.
I think the writers have just given up and they’re just coming up with outlandish plotlines to see how much we can take. It also makes me wonder if the show is not going to return next year and they are just throwing everything in the pot at once.
Over at TWOP there’s speculation that this episode was written to draw in Desperate Housewives viewers, who are accustomed to characters acting out of character, and assorted implausible wackiness. But that would mean that when it was written, the writers knew when it would be aired, so I’m skeptical.
It was over the top, and for this show, that’s saying something.
Do law offices ever close on the east coast? I’m surprised at how many non-staff seemed to be wandering the hallways after hours (Lincoln, Jerry’s new client, Bethany’s mom).
I thought it was strange too. When I worked in a law office, late hours were common, but we locked the doors. If a client was around, it was because he was being prepped for trial or a deposition.
