No, no, no…you don’t have to yell…everyone in the group just shows up wearing shiny tinfoil hats, and we find each other pretty easily!
Yelling in Central Square…how silly!
(Oh, and BTW, I know nothing of Central Square, so I can’t help pick a spot…just tell me where to go, and when)
I’m still (tentatively) in.
Don’t you know TBD? It’s right next door to TBA.
How about Central Kitchen? It’s downstairs from the Enormous Room. A little pricey, but I hear it’s good.
Or, we could just eat at the Enormous room. They do two plates: either vegetarian or with meat. It’s basically Middle Eastern cuisine (appetizers and such.).
Not certain that I can make it. I’m traveling for work and may not be back in time.
Well, that would certainly suck.
According to the online review I found, it doesn’t accomodate medium size groups, as I anticipate ours would be.
I hate to be the spoiler, but isn’t that the place that made Tanookie’s tummy heave, just from looking at the menu? And, I want her to be able to come.
I’m at a loss for a suggestion, though. I can’t think of any place big enough, in Central Square, that might work. Maybe we should just fend for ourselves for dinner, and meet for drinks afterwards? Or, consider moving the venue out of town?
I don’t know. What do you guys think?
Even tinfoil hats in Central Square may not stand out as much as you might think. It is an…interesting place.
I can’t go if it’s starting as late as 8pm. I work right near there but I try to be out of town by 6-7 at the latest for the trek to the burbs.
Don’t worry too much about me dave… I don’t wanna wreck everyone else’s party! I’m just a simple girl… no funky foods and no smoking so I’m a spoiler extraordinairre! If you all want the Central Kitchen… I’m hoping this wont be the last Beandope!
I don’t know if that’s definite, either. I could probably get there earlier. Not 5pm, but maybe 7, if people want to shift it.
No, no, no! You HAVE to come! You and I can go to a pizza place or Burger King, if that’s more your taste. (I don’t like MiddleEastern food, either.) We can always meet up with them, later.
I’m cool with 7. I can’t make an earlier though, unless you want me there smelling like burgers…
And I’m not too big on middleeastern food…I’ll tag along whereever, but I don’t think I could eat more than some rice…
I’m up for whatever, really
I poked around on the web and had a hard time finding anyplace in Central Square that didn’t have either exotic food or outrageous prices.
Suggestions??? I’m up for anything! (Morgainelf, posting from South Carolina today.)
I asked my friend who lives in Cambridge. Apparently, Central Square isn’t that great for restaurants. For food, she suggested either going to the Galleria in East Cambridge, or Boston.
There is the Cheesecake Factory in the Galleria - I’ve been there several times for work occasions and they have great stuff.
Plus I know how to get there. =)
yummm cheesecake
cartman voice Cheeesseeee CAKE!!
Can we go there anyway Parallax, no matter where they decide on BeanDope? I think I’m having a craving
Hmmm…Well, assuming people want to be able to get where we’re going by T, I’d say we have a couple of choices.
We can do the Galleria, and then can walk to Kendall and take the T to Central to get drinks and/or go to ManRay’s. Unless things have changed radically, there’s no where a group can go for drinks, in that part of Cambridge.
We can do someplace downtown, and probably skip ManRay’s. I’m not particularly in favor of this one, as I’ve always been curious to see ManRay’s. But, if we go this route, I can recommend the Bennigan’s, in Park Square. Easy to get to, they handle groups well, and the menu is reasonably diverse, while offering basic burgers and such for those of us who aren’t adventurous, food-wise. And, we could just stay there and continue drinking and schmoozing, or move on to someplace else.
Or, we could fend for ourselves, regarding the dinner part, meet at the Big Room for drinks, and then do ManRay’s.
For me, the food is the least important part, but I don’t know how other people feel about it.
Apparently I need to preview more often. I didn’t even see the posts by Tanookie and Parallax.
I was popping back in to suggest another alternative. Namely, if people don’t want to do a lot of shuttling around, those who want could meet for dinner at Central Kitchen, then move upstairs to The Big Room. And, those who don’t want to eat at Central Kitchen can meet up with them at the Big Room, later.
How’s that one sound?
5 day countdown y’all…what’s the plan?
Plan… Plan… we don’t need no steeeenkin’ plan.
Oh wait… maybe we do need a plan after all.
I’m probably the party pooper in the bunch being pregnant and all. I won’t sit in some smoke filled venue and choke to death for anyone. I also know nothing about any of the places in Central Square or Cambridge or anywhere so I don’t really know where to suggest as a viable option.
Having looked the the websites for the above mentioned places either Bennigans or the Cheesecake Factory look yummy to me. The enormous room seems kind of odd but then again I don’t get out as much as I used too.
I’ll need to convince my chauffer this is a good idea as I am not adventurous enough to go into town alone and the last time I had to take the T it smelled like pee and we had to walk past all these odd people (including some hookers picking up guys) to get where we needed to go.
Friday is fast approaching so I guess we really will need a consensus soon
But don’t feel guilty if you decide to go someplace I can’t/won’t go… I’m but one doper and a newbieish one at that! I’ll catch the next fest! Wouldn’t want everyone else to be miserable just to make primadonna tanookie happy
I think I have similar tastes to tanookie, so maybe some of us could meet at Cambridgeside Galleria or Boston for dinner first and then go to Central Square?
Well, I’m going to vote for the Galleria. I’ve never been to the Cheesecake Factory, but I’ve heard it’s good. Then, we can buzz on over to Central Square to meet up with the more adventurous eaters.
I would suggest, though, that we make it 7:30, if we’re going to meet up with the others at 9. I’ve heard Cheesecake Factory can be on the slow side service-wise. But, I’ll yield to popular opinion.
Anyone have any suggestions on how we find each other, that don’t involve tinfoil?
