To be honest Tanookie and I are mostly interested in hanging out with everyone at dinner - we’re really not up for drinks, dancing, or any wandering around. For us the Cheesecake Factory (or something else at the Galleria) would be perfect - the food is fairly straightforward, you can talk pretty easily, and we know how to get there.

I don’t know how many people are planning to be there - but it seems like we might need a reservation? We could just get a reservation under some name and then just use that name to find the rest of the people as we show up?
Good point… getting table space anywhere for more than four people on a friday night generally requires a reservation.
Well, I’m figuring at least five, so far. I think Pammipoo would probably choose to join us. So, I’d guess at least eight? I suggest we just make a reservation in Cecil’s name. Were you volunteering to do that, Parallax?
As of right now, I’ll be there. My work life is chaotic this week, so I can’t make any promises, but I should be able to make it. Assuming I don’t have another hell day like today (was supposed to work 7-5, ended up working 7-9…), anyways. I really won’t know for definite until Friday night, but count on me for the reservation, just to be safe.
Volunteer? Me? Umm - not really. I get all squeamish having to do stuff like that.

I can’t go (far too busy with finals, etc.), sorry, but I thought I’d give you guys a heads-up: no reservations at the Cheesecake Factory. And you have to wait for your whole party to arrive before they’ll add you to the list. At least that’s the official line from their FAQ:
I know they won’t take reservations. And on a busy night an hour is generally your minimum wait time, and that’s not for a large party.
Hate to spoil that for you guys, especially since I love the place- that’s what drew my interest in glancing at the thread.
Now that I reread that, I think I’m wrong about the “not added to list until everyone arrives” thing. Sorry, it’s late.

Well, I’m at a loss as to what to suggest, now. Anyone know what else is in the Galleria? Or, is anyone willing to volunteer to show up an hour early to hold us a table? This should not be this hard!
Here’s a WAS (Wild Ass Suggestion). If people aren’t set on Central Square for the nightlife, and if everyone is planning on driving to the destination, as opposed to taking the T, there’s a Victoria’s Station across from Burlington Mall, where I meet with a bunch of ex-coworkers, from time to time. They have no problem accomodating large groups on the spur of the moment. The food’s pretty good, they serve drinks, and they don’t mind a little rowdiness. Plus, no one has to deal with the newly rearranged streets and parking prices in downtown Boston. It’s a little farther for some people; it’s a little closer for others.
Victoria’s station… I’ve been there once… my parents used to steal their salt shakers because they looked like beer bottles.

So far I think the group is Parallax & I, Davebear, Achernar, Pamipoo if work doesn’t screw her,dinahmoe (tentatively), Laughing Lagomorph if we make it a little earlier and Morgainelf if she gets back from work travel on time.
That’ be 8 if we all can go. I would have to say that 8 could fit more or less anywhere…
We can meet at the galleria and they have the cheesecake factory and Papa Razzi and the California Pizza Kitchen so if one was too busy we may be able to finagle a table elsewhere.
Did we settle on a time? We’re pretty flexible here as my job is taking care of the munchkin and Parallax’s commute is to our den. We could be there pretty much whenever. I’d say we should try and meet no later than 7. Try and get in before all the “party people” snag all the good seats My stamina is limited after chasing a toddler all day and incubating another munckin on top of that.
Fine. Galleria at 7. I’ll email Pammipoo my cell phone number, in case she’s running late. Betenoir may also show up, but she’s being disorganized, so I’ll have to email her, now that I have something concrete to tell her.
Last detail. It would still be really nice if we could find each other, when we get there. It’s been at least a year, since I was in that mall. Anyone know of a good place to meet?
