You started this thread with the OP I quoted above. What was your intent for the thread? Did you feel people would be saying things like “Wow, that really sums up the modern Democratic party in an insightful metaphor”? If so, you must realize by now that didn’t happen.
You obviously dislike the Democrats who are running for President. But you didn’t choose to express opinions like “I don’t like Bernie or Hillary because they’ll raise taxes” or “I don’t like Bernie or Hillary because I feel they’ll do too much for special interest groups” or “I don’t like Bernie or Hillary because I feel they’ll make poor foreign policy decisions”.
No, your message essentially was “I don’t like Bernie or Hillary because they’ll do strange things to my anus.” But I’m assuming you don’t believe this is literally true. I’m assuming that you just chose this as a metaphor for how you feel about the candidates.
To me, it seems like the greater purpose of stating a political opinion is to sway the opinions of those who read it. If I said something like “I lived in New York when Hillary Clinton was Senator of that state and I can tell you she did a poor job representing her constituents. She would do the same representing Americans as President. So don’t vote for her.” then I would be making a valid attempt to sway opinions about Clinton. But if I said “Don’t vote for Hillary. She’s a big poopyhead.” then the way I presented my message would diminish the respect people would have for my opinions and defeat the purpose of posting them. Why would anyone want to take advice from somebody who’d use the word poopyhead?
Your OP seems to cause the same reaction. It seems more likely to sway people’s opinions about you and your abilities as a political commentator rather than sway opinions about the subject you were commenting on. So, to get back to my question, why did you choose to make this post?
