Boy Meets Boy - The Aftermath

gay.com has just posted an interview with leading man James, the first post-show interview I’ve seen and the first interview at all with any depth to it. Among other things we learn that he has the unfortunate last name “Getzlaff” and that he has remained friends with a number of the mates, including after a fashion Dan, but not Franklin.

My take? He shows more emotion in the interview than he did throughout the entire show. He’s trying hard to be the brave little toaster but it’s pretty obvious that there’s some bitterness about the twist that’s going to stay with him for a while.

Because the show is bigger than I am. I am just a guy who has a job, who has chosen to do this and be part of this experience, and my personal journey was the vehicle for the show – but the show itself was something different than my personal journey.

Give me a break James, you’re a Warholian celebrity with beautiful eyes, a great smile, an upper body in need of tone and the IQ of a particularly bright ferret- your “journey” was to Palm Springs, you really didn’t discover the seat of the soul and astrally project yourself to Orion.

I know that straight guys/gay guys can be friends (I myself have more straight male friends than I have gay male friends), but I think the Dan-Brian thing is just a bit odd. Do you think that Dan might have been a double twist?

So, suppose that there’ll be a BOY MEETS BOY 2. Suppose that the second one will have twists as well, but not the straight guys (or if they do, you’ll know from Jump St. that some are straight).

1- Would you be willing to be the star of the show (like James)?

2- Would you be willing to be a member of the harem (like Wes, Brian, Dan, etc.)?

Also, in case it doesn’t work out between James and Wes, does anybody have Wes’s number so that I can call to comfort him? (Wes was, to me, much hotter than James.)

Well, someone posted in an earlier BmB thread that Dan is the ex of a female friend of theirs, but there is also that rumor (reported in Billy Masters’ “Filth” column) that an “unnamed straight mate” (but it’s obviously Dan) has been spotted out at gay bars and enjoying the attention very much. So maybe he’s bisexual. Or maybe he’s just a narcissist. Either way as long as Brian’s happy it’s just dandy with me.

If I were going to appear on such a show which doesn’t really interest me that much as a concept, I wouldn’t be the leading man but I would be a mate.

But I don’t think they could do another version with the straights in the henhouse twist. Like “Joe Millionaire” that twist seems to have a built-in expiration date (although there’s a Joe Millionaire 2 so who the hell knows? So assuming that the straight twist is out of the concept, what twist do you think would entice you to watch another series? The twist I’d like to see would involve, after the first round of eliminations, one of the eliminated mates being selected at random to become a second leading man to compete with the first leading man for the rest of the mates. Not really sure how future selection ceremonies would work, maybe each leading man eliminates some and any that both eliminate are gone while the rest remain but don’t know they were half-voted off? The competition and the choices the mates would make (play up to one leading man or the other, or both?) would make for some fun I think.

Please tell me you’re kidding. If I were in the same room with Wes, I could never stop punching him. He annoyed me that much. I was so certain he was the straight one, too; he seemed to me to be trying too hard, which I figured meant he was in it for the money.

For the record, I’m not gay. Not that there’s anything wrong with that.

Since Bravo has now gotten a hang of the show, hopefully any BmB2 will have more episodes. What we got was okay, but it did feel rushed.
