Yanno, Flytrap, you’re alright, sticking up for me like that.
I just want you to know I’d stick up for you, too. Fer instance, if someone said you weren’t fit to sleep with the pigs, I’d defend you & say that you are fit to sleep with the pigs. ![]()
Had fajitas for dinner. Are the leftover fajitas or falaters? ![]()
The kitties have earned their chow today. Chaka Khan (mama cat) killed a mouse this morning, and Mir (biggest kitten) got another this evening.
Gross. But not as gross as having mice indoors.
(There are 2 large planted fields within ~100 yards of my house, and 2 large stands of planted pines that have been thinned over the past weeks closer. The vermin are looking for safe places to escape harvesters. Yay.)
Mouse child: “Mommy, when is Daddy coming home?”
Mommy Mouse:“I don’t know, dear, he went out to find food.”

We had a great steak supper with baked taters and spare guts. Then hubby told me the window guy is starting the new window install on Moanday. Then before supper was finished he said “I think I will rent a car and go to Jawja on Sunday”. Uhhh, WTF? He wants to go see his kids and grandkids and newish great grand baby and I understand that. I told him to postpone the window guy if he is not gonna be around then he got all hurt. Dude I don’t care if you go but I don’t want construction going on with you not here. We have pets and there is no way I can be here.
Why has *everything * got to be so hard. Am I going to spend Christmas alone? I would be OK with that as I know how to cook and we are not really doing a lot for Christmas anyway.
Speaking of Christmas I did do a little shopping for RoxStar.
Night all.
sunny, find a nice corgi at the dog park for Akiko-pup or make a trip to Tennessee and let Nelson play tag with her.
Irked, came home, made a few calls to offices that close at four post meridian EST, grocery shopped and went to the city to hear friends’ play music. I’s tahred!
Happy Saturday!
Woke too early, around 5-ish, and couldn’t go back to sleep.
It’s a rainy 43 degrees outside.
Even though it’s rainy today I’m hoping to get some stuff done outside.
My son is done with school for the semester. So far only two classes have entered his grades. He got A’s in Music and Medical Terminology. He should have A’s in International Business and Health and Wellness.
Ripple would probably love to play with Akiko, I think he’d probably be too rough for Nelson. However, my cat loves dogs, and he would probably play with Nelson.
I think we are finally free of the mice.
I have all my Christmas cards done. I need to put the stamps on and run them to the PO.
One box of cards got lost in the mail and I wasn’t sure when I was going to get them, so I ordered another box. Of course both of them came in yesterday’s mail. Is okay, I have my cards for next year. And my wrapping paper, and my gift tags.
Lots to do today. I have a list, and now that my son is done with school he can get busy helping me with some of the heavier stuff.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN I was a slug abed this mornin’ and didn’t get up until seven-fifteen. ‘Tis 53 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 63 and mostly cloudy for the day. Also may be drizzly throughout the mornin’. Again I have no where I need or want to go and neither does OYKW. Any need to feed today will be via forage. Just one of those days where sloth reigns.
Now I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy says it’s hongry. Then, onward into the day!
Happy Sattidy Y’all!
Happy Soggy Saturday! Apart from one pee break, I slept thru till 7! YAY.
More to share, but **FCD **has an early eye dr appt, and I promised him an omelet before he goes. Back soon…
Morning all. Up at 0530 for some reason, now just waiting until I can get dressed and go to the gym to run the indoor soccer–will probably be there all day (or at least 9-5).
Rained hard last night and a little more is expected today.
Cupcakes, my brother and Sis-in-law have been trying to do the same thing with me. I have a ‘burner’ phone and a Kindle and something else sitting around the house gathering dust. Guess I’m just a technological Luddite…
Butters, has husband unit always been the type to drop tidbits that way, or is this a change in behavior?
Now need to obtain sustenance before facing the horde of 5-6-7 year olds (any group that age that numbers more than 5 is automatically a horde).
Hubby has now decided he will go to Jawja after the new year but who knows. I don’t think he even knows. He is impulsive and not really a planner and he must irk around his employees. He wants someone always here to take care of his customers.
I broke down and bought a Christmas tree. It’s not the best one nor the most expensive one but it will suffice. I will try not to be a Scrooge. Bah Humbug.
OK, my sweetie has ingested his breakfast and just left for his appt. Now what was I going to say??
**Butters **- you’re so sweet to remember my RoxStar at Christmas! Since she’s way too small to understand gifts, I’ve been getting stuff and telling my daughter they’re her presents. Like her high chair, and the clothes I just ordered the other day. She’s outgrown most of her 6-month clothes, which makes sense, because today, she’s 8 months old!
She needs the bigger size for the length - they’re baggy around the middle, but, in jammies specifically, they’re right from shoulder to foot. A sign she’ll be tall?
Higgs and Cozmo like to chase around. When my sis’ greyhound was still alive and she brought him here, he’d take off running in the yard and Higgs would be in hot pursuit! It was hilarious to watch. Higgs and Taz will rassle, too. Ziva doesn’t play with anyone, tho. But I’ve seen her head-butt Higgs.
Rain is supposed to continue all day - flood watch is posted for the county, but it shouldn’t affect us - we’re at one of the higher points of the neighborhood and pretty far from any creeks. It’ll just be dreary and no laundry will be hung out - surprise!
And on that note, I should shower and dress and start my chores. Good luck with your horde, MetalMouse! Don’t be afraid to play the Santa card to control them!
Afternoon all. Back from irk. The weather round 'ere today is best described as 'orrible; rain and plenty of it, going sideways. I was thinking I’d call in the town near irk, which is better shopping than where I live, to get a few more Christmas presents, but I really couldn’t face walking up the high street in that. I left the bathroom window open juuust a crack, and there was a puddle of rain on the floor when I got back (one advantage of living alone, no furry pets- I know it is just rain). Low lying places are flooding, I’m glad I’m on a hill, even if it does mean more wind.
I’m now just trying to get ready for tomorrow- I’m getting the early coach 'cos there’s a limit to how much driving I want to do in a week. I’m getting AA membership (the automobile version, not alcoholic) for Christmas 'cos otherwise I’d be more that a bit concerned about getting the distance I’ll need to go and back in a vehicle that’s getting, well, ‘quirky’. It’s still road legal and stuff like the brakes are fine, it’s not really unsafe, but…
Christmas is all about the kids IMO. It was fun fun shopping for girls stuff. I got nine months size.
Just had homemade taters and onions using the leftover baked tater and steak for breakfast.
Tis a little dreary and rainy here as well. Appears Tis rainy all over.
nut, it’s an odd thing seeing the automobile association abreviated as AA. Here across the pond, we refer to it as triple A.
I tend to drive vehicles until they are quite aged, so I know what you mean about being fairly safe, but wanting to have a back up plan.
Up, caffeinating, breakfasted, towels and sheets in the wash and the puppy crate cleaned. I need to make some sesame sweet potato noodles for the holiday party this evening. Other than that, I’m playing with the new toys that are my Christmas present to me.
We must be able to tell them apart; after all, one doesn’t want the agency to drive across the Atlantic Ocean to repair one’s flat tire.
I stir fried some shrimp and shushito peppers in sesame oil and broke the glaze with soy sauce and marsala. Mrs. Plant (v.3.0) liked it as well.
I am bummed. I went to the shop where I buy stick incense. I found out the owner of the incense business has passed away and the business will be closing. I’ve bought this incense for over thirty years here in NE Kansas, at this shop, at a RenFest, and a couple of other outlets. The owners of the shop are searching for another supplier that has as good quality. They’ve found a good supplier for cones but not sticks yet. Grrrrr.
Tonight I’m baking sugar cookies for my nephew’s Boy Scout Court of Honor tomorrow. He and two other young men from his troop are being inducted as Eagle Scouts. Our family is so proud of him.

Probably because AA is something else altogether.
Very rainy here, dark and dreary.
I made a mistake about no more mice, the cat has been on the hunt most of the day. He probably would have succeeded had the dog not tried to ‘help’.
I’m being very lazy, haven’t got much done today. I’m blaming the rain for making me sleepy.
I don’t think the two companies actually have anything to do with each other; they’re not the same company and never have been, though they do similar stuff. Apparently, yours is actually older- I’d kind of assumed our version got in first, hence the reduced number of As, but nope… According to wiki, the UK version was originally founded to help motorists avoid speed traps (among other things)- they’d salute oncoming drivers displaying a membership badge if there was not a speed trap around. Saluting when there was one was deemed to be illegal, but they couldn’t be prosecuted for not signalling something ![]()
have the local troops been affected by the bankruptcy thing? I heard about it in another vitriolic thread…
Well its cold (for here anyway) and sunny and I shall be drug out side to fix the front yard … we really need new xmas decorations inside and out …… as m0st of ours is falling apart or weather rotted and falls apart to the touch …. but I hate the all inflatable thing …a couple of em nice and cute but when its nothing but …….
for several years southern California had its own auto club that started before aaa they merged got in a fight and then split off for 40 years and then got back together to hear them tell it they were the first version of Caltrans…….
I haven’t heard about that, maybe I’ll ask my BIL.
Forgot to mention I finished Christmas shopping today. Yay!
