Okay, no more drinking before the episode for me*. I miss too much. I’ll watch it again this week and catch all the stuff I didn’t see before (and that you guys pointed out).

I’m guessing the Nazis are going to take him. That’s what they’ll use to keep Jesse cooking.
But if they didn’t take him after shooting the mother (and I didn’t notice if they did or not), will they ever get another chance? I’m thinking Brock will be in the state’s custody now, no?
So there’s Saul and Walt arguing in the basement and the ID guy comes in through a false door that looks like insulated wall on the other side. Walt collapses in mid threat, Saul picks up his bags and leaves by. . .the stairs going up to the main floor. My wife caught that little lapse in continuity.
I don’t think they showed what happened right after Todd shot Andrea. They cut to another scene.
I think the scene ended after he shot her.
Jesse asked them to shoot him because he didn’t want to cook anymore.
They need him to cook so they.
They shot Andrea.
The only logical thing is that shooting Andrea was to prove that they don’t fuck around and they’ll shoot Brock if he doesn’t keep cooking. If Brock ends up somewhere else (where they can’t get a hold of him to kill him) how do they force a suicidal Jesse to cook?
Did we see Andrea’s mother at some point? I felt like we did, but I don’t remember the specifics. It’s not too hard to imagine them finding her and Brock’s family if needed. Kidnapping a child would just make their lives harder.
Yeah, but they had to sort of remind him that they could still go after him. I only watched it once, but didn’t they say something like “Remember - we can always get the kid/Brock”? If they actually took him - wouldn’t be necessary to point that out.
I think if they left the kid behind - there is no way that kid is going to be there when they come back.
While some scenes portray Todd and his uncle as criminal masterminds - some do not. There is the scene of him talking back to back with Lydia - which was about as subtle as having a Russian meet someone in a park on back to back park benches with a newspaper.
They get away with a lot of stuff through brute force and intimidation - not brains.
Halfway through the episode I was sure that what would finally lure Walt out was that he’d learn of Andrea’s gangland-style murder in one of the delivered newspapers and combined with reports of continueing blue meth piece it together that
Jack and Todd still had Jesse. That they were working for Lydia. That paranoid Lydia would consider Skyler a threat. And so it would be necessary to take out the whole operation.
But it is just so obvious, in hindsight, that to wrap up the story that Walt also needs to deal with the original slight. The taking away of his original empire. I can’t even begin to guess how Grey Matter and Todd/Jesse/Lydia will come together but I’m looking forward to it.
Not reading anything in here (since I haven’t reached this episode yet and don’t want to be spoiled), but Breaking Bad just won its first (and probably last) Emmy for Most Outstanding Drama Series.*
*First time winning this category. In others it already has a few Emmy’s in.
A) Regardless of where Brock actually is, Jesse has no information and would therefore be risking it.
B) Jesse knows that they arranged ten simultaneous prison slayings so “out of their reach” is a small slice of heaven.
C) We know that they had no compunction at all about infiltrating a house under surveillance to intimidate Skyler. So we know with C and B that it may be a smaller slice of heaven than Jesse thinks.
They didn’t cut immediately after the shooting. They stuck with Jesse’s wailing long enough for Todd to get back in the car and he didn’t have Brock with him. And taking Brock would be stupid since they don’t physically need him to control Jesse and having a dead mother and missing kid will maintain police interest much longer than a random killing in a lower-end neighborhood).
As for whether Todd is a spying master mind, I don’t know that his behavior at the coffee bar is any indication either way. Just as Mike knew Lydia’s way was stupid and that nobody else in the bar cared in the slightest, Todd likely knows the same.
Yes, we met Andrea’s mom when Jesse first started dating her. She kept making comments about how disgraceful Andrea was and how she left Brock with her too much so she could go out and do drugs etc. No doubt Brock is now in the custody of the grandma. As you said, it would be too much work for the Nazis to abduct and feed a kid (not to mention avoiding the Amber Alerts) when they can just get him later at abuela’s house.
Walt isn’t going to do anything to the Grey Matter people. That was just to prick his pride. The whole episode was about his weakenng to the point of.giving up. In the end it is his pride that motivates him.
I don’t think so. He’s burned that bridge, over and over. Anyway, he’s got to think Pinkman’s dead.
Well, except for the blue meth bit on the TV. Maybe he thinks only Jesse knows how to do it, therefore Jesse = alive? So maybe he wants to settle-up with Jesse, and the Aryans, before turning himself in?
WAG: the ricin is Lydia, for that special tea she likes to drink.
No, Walt’s face was on the news. Vacuum guy said that Saul’s face was on a bus. (Because that’s how Saul advertises.)
ETA: On preview, even if Walt and Jesse were still BFFs, Jesse would be the absolute last person he’d want to give his drug money too. That money tortures Jesse to the point that he starts heaving it out car windows.
No awards for the actors, though. Jeff Daniels won Best Actor in a Drama for his role as How Aaron Sorkin Sees Himself in The Newsroom.
How did Todd know Skyler saw Lydia at the car wash, anyway?
Because Lydia told him so and then told him to take care of it. We didn’t see that meeting, but we did see the followup meeting when Todd reported back that the situation was handled.
I, personally, am looking forward to Todd’s line of Valentine cards: “I would threaten a baby for you.”
Honestly, I’m a little disappointed they dredged up the Gray Matter bullshit again. I mean, Walt’s life has been completely fucked six times from Tuesday and THAT is what gets him going again? A fucking slight from 30 years ago? How about his son telling him to drop dead? Or is this all he has left now? My family hates me, my wife works as a taxi dispatcher, and my daughter is being cared for by a neighbor, but for fuck’s sake I AM THE BRAINS BEHIND GRAY MATTER!!! (Also, Gretchen laughed at my penis once.)
I really hope Walt isn’t going back to ABQ to shoot up the Gray Matter rehab clinic opening. That might go down in history with the Seinfeld finale. I have to believe the gun is for the Nazis.
Lydia went to the car wash to try to get Walt back. When that didn’t work, she hatched the plan with Todd and the Nazis to take out Declan’s crew. One would assume she mentioned that she tried to get Walt back and that Walt’s wife had warned her off ever coming back.
