Churches traditionally (and I hate to have to put it that way but words escape me right now) have been more bombings. In terms of shootings the ones I remember inside a church were the result of domestic situations gone wrong. And in the case of the Temple in Carnegie it was just someone shooting up the empty building late in the evening - some Neo-Nazi if memory serves. I’m not saying there haven’t been any like this in the US – just that they aren’t in my brain right now or what I expect.

Charleston (Dylan Roof), 2015, is the most recent one I know how to find for the US. Maybe I’m just conflating the general “mass shooting in the US” with “religious troubles in the US”.

Actually, there is an eruv surrounding Squirrel Hill, and it is permitted to carry there on Shabbat.

Well, it wasn’t a mass shooting, just one killed, but there was the case of Dr. George Tiller, who was shot and killed at his church on Sunday morning, in 2009.
Dr. Tiller was the head of an abortion clinic that did late term abortions, and his killer stalked him to the church. I guess it’s alright to kill someone after they have been born, if you don’t like what they are doing.
