Breath of the Wild 2 - 2022 [Now titled "Tears of the Kingdom"]

I love it so much that I have beaten it thrice. The first playthrough was 120 hours and I found and beat every shrine(and all dungeons). The second was in master mode and I actually skipped 20 or so dungeons.

Took two years off and went back to it last summer. Beat every shrine again and had about an 80 hour playthrough.

It’s no contest to me that BotW is the best game of all time. It’s number one and the gap below it is vast before listing anything else.

Note: I did eventually sell mi Wii U copy and played again on switch. It looked the same, by the way. Man, that Wii U was powerful.

I haven’t bought a DLC yet but probably will sometime before this new one comes out. I’d like to try master mode.

Master Mode is pretty fun, but I found much of the other content not that great. The next time I played though, I went back to normal. The harder monsters and the regenerating health of bad guys was…fun, but kind of frustrating at time and I enjoyed the original chill pace of the main game in its original form.

Still, it was fun and more challenging. I can’t remember if I beat a Golden Lynel.

I made the mistake of playing the DLCs in master mode. It was enjoyable at first and I got quite far, but eventually there was a fight against one of those shrine monks that was just impossible when he regenerated all the time.

I started another playthrough in regular mode, but after completing the divine beasts and part of the DLCs I lost interest.

I found the final boss of the main game(Ganon) to be very poorly designed in Master Mode. He kept throwing up his shield and regenerating.

I beat him, but it was unfun.

My grandson and I are so excited. I was really hoping it would be a bit sooner though.

I was dreading “delayed until Holiday 2023”. When the release date hit, I’m not exaggerating that I cheered(in my head, I was at work).

I think the difficulty level of the original game was very nicely judged, that’s a big part of the reason why progress felt so good. Master mode was necessarily skewed and made some of the enemies feel less satisfying.

I came across a tiktok with someone saying she was surprised that Nintendo decided not to livestream the announcement until she learned the new Zelda was called “Tears of the Kingdom”.

Apparently it’s true for the UK at least, but I don’t know if the title actually played a role in the decision:

Yeah, I mean I think that at certain points in the game, new ranks of enemies were unlocked and it kind of progressed nicely. However, I did find I was overpowered 50% through the game no matter what mode I used. Even in master mode, only the uber-hard enemies posed a real threat.

I have no idea if it streamed, but I do see how “Tears of the Kingdom” made them nervous about the Queen…

Anyway, it’s all on youtube now.

ah yes, I did wonder why they didn’t livestream and didn’t click until you pointed out the the BOTW2 title just now.

I suppose that makes sense, in any case I watched the french version live and got the gist of it.

Bob l’eponge indeed! Lapin Cretin! all good fun.

In the last video that was made a few months ago, the director indicated that the skies are not the only way the world has been expanded. I wonder what else they have done.

I was wondering if there is an underground cavern area under Hyrule, but I can’t picture an entire world map of Hyrule and an extensive underground and a bunch of sky islands. The Switch can only handle so much.

I do think that “Tears of the Kingdom” is also a pun suggesting “tiers” of the kingdom. I bet we don’t only go to the sky, we also get to go to the underground caverns.

New trailer. Game is 3 months away:

Dammit, why was I thinking it was due out next month! Man, I’m bummed.

Same release date it has had for awhile, now. I’m just glad they did not move it back more.

I guess there is some outrage that it sells for $69.99, but I pre-ordered it for $59 over a year ago from Amazon, I assume I get it for that price.

I pre-ordered last month for the same price and am assuming Amazon holds to that. That said, even if they upped it, if it’s anywhere near the playtime for me that BOTW was, it’s still a great price for the hundreds (if not thousands) of hours of playtime.

I agree. My playthroughs, approximately, are:

1st - 120-125 hours
2nd - 70 hours(Master Mode, didn’t even do all the shrines)
3rd - 80-90 hours(regular mode, I knew where stuff was and did all shrines)

I could put it in right now and start again. It’s a very soothing, fun game that has brought a lot of joy to me.

I hope the sequel equals it. They have shown an incredibly little amount of actual footage, which could either be a concern…or just means they are playing it close to the chest.

Speculation is that there might be some big secrets that prevent them from showing a lot of in-game footage. Time Travel? Playing as Zelda in the underground caverns?

Could be nothing, but we have seen less than maybe 2-3 minutes of gameplay. Rest is cinematics.
