Breath of the Wild 2 - 2022 [Now titled "Tears of the Kingdom"]

True, though looking back at BOTW trailers before the release (particularly this one ) I don’t think there was that much more game play shown. So I’m hopeful. And also prepared for potential disappointment.

Wife and I are talking about talking a trip to Hawaii this spring. Think she’ll get suspicious if I say we should schedule the flight for May 13th?

Xbox and PlayStation hiked up their game prices to $70 this generation, so it only figures that Nintendo would inevitably follow suit. Plus, we’re most likely pretty close to the end of the Switch’s lifespan anyway, so I’d assume for the next console, games will be universally priced at $70.

I was just talking to my sister about the game and she revealed that she has pre-ordered two of them. One for me and one for my grandson.

She’s the most generous person. I’m so excited.

I’ve been having some health problems and I’m going to be very irritated if I die before I get the chance to play this game.

I’m 44, a teacher, and would you believe I’m taking a day off work…and pulling both my kids for one day…so we can play it for a few hours?

We’re so excited.

I’m 41, a teacher, and have a few off-contract days to burn before June 30 so you better bet I’m going to take that Friday and probably Monday off.

I haven’t been this excited about a video game release since Donkey Kong Country in 1994 – of course, I was 13 and got caught up in all the hype (which was well deserved, IMO, as I still play DKC). I’m not a huge gamer but I absolutely love BotW and can’t wait for TotK.

I’ll be 67 in August and I love the reaction I get when I buy a new game and inform the sales person it’s not for my grandkids but for me. So many young people just can’t believe an old lady like me plays a video game.

I have played BOTW so many times and it is easily the best game I’ve ever played. I’m so excited and really do hope I get to play this new game sitting next to my grandson.

Did you ever try Elden Ring? I thought it was quite a few steps down from Breath of the WIld, but is about the closest experience I’ve seen. Much harder, which I think is a point against it.

I quit Elden Ring, at least for now, and look to have been pretty far, but facing massive difficult battles ahead and I was exhausted.

It does, however, have a really big and interesting open world. With lots to do. It even has a “come out and look at the world” moment at the beginning of the game.

No, I haven’t, but if it’s too hard for you, there’s no way I’d succeed. If I’m not mistaken, you recommended Immortal Fenyx Rising and said it was easy for you. I love the game, but I can’t make any progress. It’s so hard for me.

Fenyx has difficulty settings. Just lower the difficulty on that one and it should be easy. It was a pretty fun game.

I did have it on the easiest setting. It was still too difficult for me inside the shrines or whatever those things were called. I did enjoy the parts I could do, but got very frustrated when I could no longer progress. I’ll have to wait for my grandson to get interested in that game so he can help me. He’s better than me and he’s only 8.

Great new video showing off some of the new gameplay mechanics:

Biggest thing is the “Fuse” ability which creates new weapons. Fuse a tick and a rock to make a hammer. Fuse an eye with an arrow to make an enemy-seeking arrow. Or stick a bunch of logs together to make a boat.

I’m thinking I’m going to be sinking a LOT of time into this one just messing around trying to find new things to do.

Looks great. The graphical errors in the video seem to be coming from Youtube Compression, not that the game will look so pixelated.

I think the game should be going out to reviewers in a few weeks so they can put 100+ hours into it for a review. I think they had to show us the opening area and abilities since reviewers will not be leaking the game, but some little leaks like that will come out.

Gosh, time is not passing quickly enough.

Adding, they should really release the uncompressed version of the video. The trees looked very blurry at times.

I wonder if Switch 2 will come out next year. I could convince myself to re-buy this game if it upgrades it to 60FPS and 4K.

I’ve never bought a console day 1, but I told my kids if Nintendo’s next one is like the Switch, but stronger, I’m pre-ordering it.

I am also incredibly excited about this. I am an extremely casual gamer, but BotW is also my all-time favorite game. It was easy enough I never got discouraged and quit, but the sheer wonder of exploring the map even in late game and discovering new things/places was really magical. I don’t know if this new one can capture that same feeling, but I hope it’s fun anyway.

I am not familiar with Zelda lore (other than playing Ocarina of Time when it first came out), so there were so many little unexplained things (like ancient statues) that hinted at past histories I’d love to see more about. I especially liked the cooking and collecting pieces of BotW, so being able to do that with weapons and armor seems like a great sign.

I’m super pumped. I’ll likely never play older Zelda games having played BotW and had so much fun with it. My first playthrough was approximately 120 hours and my playthroughs after ranged 80-100 hours.

Here is a great analysis of the gameplay. He notices quite a few little details in the maps and other things that were not pointed out by Nintendo, but they were obviously OK with us seeing. Worth your time if you are excited.

It looks great, all four of our family are eager to play it and with two Switches and many eager fingers I’m seriously wondering if we can get away with only one copy.

This looks outstanding. I’ve always been a “don’t pre-order or buy on a release day” kind of guy, but I’ve got a 5 hour flight the day after it comes out. I’m 100% buying Day 1.

I pre-ordered almost two years ago and everything looks terrific. I’m thrilled they took six years with the base map already designed from the previous game and then innovated it to be a huge awesome game.

That building rising out of the Gerudo Desert looked like a dungeon. May have actual full dungeons, unlike BotW.
