Breath of the Wild 2 - 2022 [Now titled "Tears of the Kingdom"]

I really missed proper dungeons in BotW. I need to get my preorder in; I’m seriously thinking about picking it up on release day.

I didn’t miss them at all, but I have to tell you…the buzz on this game is massive. That last trailer just blew everyone away.

Many sites and some youtubers were given a chance to play the game for 2-hours, with limitations on where and what they could do and show. The game looks great, with possibilities seeming very endless.

Here is one Youtuber who played it and his analysis. Spoilers in the sense he is playing the game, but pretty limited in spoiler-level. Great preview and nice to see someone who isn’t a Nintendo person playing the game.

@Mahaloth You can post videos; it’s just complicated now, due to bugs. I had to post the URL with a slash at the end. And you cannot edit your post after you post it.

More info here:

Edit: and I was going to link that video if you hadn’t.

This was probably the best analysis I saw, by the way. He’s a huge Zelda fan and is not connected to a review website.

I can not wait to play this game.

The game leaked this week and I saw just enough leaked footage to confirm the game looks amazing and has tons of new content. To help sell the game I’ll spoiler box some basic facts that we now know:

150 shrines. <–I loved shrines in the first game.
6 dungeons <–better designed than the first game

And to be honest, probably the best kept secret in gaming history I can remember is that:

There is an entire second map the same size as Hyrule. “The Depths” is not just some caverns. There is a full-sized map underground the same size as the original game map. Wow.

Gaaah! I am going to Spain on vacation in July and I told myself I was going to save this to play on the plane and all of the trains, and waiting 2 full months does not feel possible.

Review embargo lifts tomorrow, but the general buzz from people who bootlegged or got an early copy is that it is terrific. Equal or better than the first game.

There are some quibbles(you still can NOT pet the dogs!), but the game is generally receiving hugely positive reviews.

Tomorrow, we’ll see what reviewers think. I’m kind of expecting it to be the best reviewed game since Elden Ring.

Is it too late to cancel my pre-order?

:joy:

Reviews are through the roof.

96 overall on Metacritic now.

10/10 from IGN

10/10 from gamespot.

Warning: Mild gameplay spoilers in reviews, nothing huge.

How do downloaded games work? If my Switch breaks or I get a new one, can I download the game on the new Switch?

I’m asking because Amazon has yet to even ship my order.

Yes. Digital fame are tied to your account not machine.

Here’s a question for those here in the know. I’m a relatively casual gamer and have never felt the need to be a completist in terms of platforms, so for a while I had an PS2, then an Xbox, and came back to a PS and now a PS5. Never had any handheld games, never dipped my toe into the Ninendo world.

Time has passed and now my wife has to spend some long days in a medical facility. She wanted a Switch to play Animal Crossing, so I got her one. She got tired of it in about five minutes and now it’s mine. I see these reviews of Tears of the Kingdom and think it might be fun to try out. Should I play Breath of the Wild first? I have a used copy I picked up cheap but haven’t really done anything with it yet.

Breath of the Wild is indeed amazing and my pick for greatest game of al time. It’s very easy to pick up and understand what to do and Link wanders out into the open world right away, so it is very cool and gives off a great vibe.

Having said that, Tears of the Kingdom has been designed for those that did or did NOT play Breath of the Wild. I’ve heard people comment that it can actually be kind of surprising how few characters in the world seem to comment on Link and his previous adventure. Some even act like they are meeting him the first time. This is because Nintendo designed this game to not require its predecessor.

I have yet to play Tears of the Kingdom, but I can assure you that Breath of the Wild is truly fantastic.

:sob:

I hope you can at least still feed them.

Your horses from Breath of the Wild copy over! He’s still holding them in the stables. At least there is that!

I went to Walmart this morning at 6am(I’m a a teacher so I was up already) and they had a ton in stock.

My Amazon order is not guaranteed for today, so I’ll just return it or cancel if I still can. I waited 2 years for my pre-order and ended up just getting one off the shelf.

Began the game, very fun. I have both the “Fuse” and “Ultrahand” ability and it is both satisfying and strange.

My kid is totally enthralled.
