Breath of the Wild 2 - 2022 [Now titled "Tears of the Kingdom"]

I drove from Sacramento to Modesto to meet my sister today. She handed over two of the games, one for me and one for my grandson. I treated her to lunch at Rivets, which was excellent.

When I got back to Sacramento, I gave my grandson his copy and we started the game sitting side by side, with my sister watching on FaceTime. So fun.

I just got through one of the shrines. I think I’ve got the hang of Ultrahand, but fusing is still confusing me. I accidentally attached a fire fruit to an arrow, but I have no idea how I did it. Anyway, I’m probably not going to sleep at all tonight.

Finally!

I’m getting used to Ultrahand.

Fusing with arrows - pull the arrow back and push the “up” button on the directional pad

Fusing something to your weapon - You have to, get this, drop an item on the ground and then choose fuse on it and it will let you pick your weapon :man_shrugging:

I thought I had fusing, but I couldn’t attach a rock to one of the weapons. I’m wondering if some weapons can’t carry the big rocks. I’m still learning.

I have also learned, and I am very early, that some weapons you find have already been fused when you get them. I have an axe that won’t let me fuse an item on it and it is listed as “already been fused”. If you read its description, it is a stick fused with a rock to make an axe

Finally made it to the third island shrine and got ascend. Took me some figuring to get to that one, but I finally got there. Can’t wait to get down to the ground level!

I made it to the ground today and let me tell you, it’s a lot to take in. I found one chasm, like a hole in the ground made by malice/goop/gloom…and it was kind of incredible.

It’s really a lot to take in.

I also made it to the ground today. I’ve died many times - it reminds me of my early days with BotW, in a good way. But also kind of frustrating in that I know that there will be so much more I’m able to do as I get better weapons and such.

  1. Have you jumped down one of those pits/holes that you can see on the map? Restore the first tower to get a clearer image of the map and you’ll know what I mean.

  2. I’m not sure weapons will ever be as strong without extensive fusing. It’s weird to not have access to any good weapons.

Put in a couple of hours. Did 2 of the 3 shrines for powers. Game is fun, if you dont like BotW you won’t like this. Building stuff with Ultrahand and Fusing as EXTREMELY clunky

Fusing is incredibly cumbersome.

I’m in the depths and can’t get out. My grandson will probably be able to get me out of there today. Whew, I’m trying to remember if I struggled this much with the fighting in the first one.

I love the ascend feature.

I came off the sky island stupid and didn’t do what I was supposed to do next - I kept running into things where I needed the paraglider and didn’t have that.

I now have the paraglider and a no longer simply wandering hoping I don’t get slaughtered again by enemies too hard for me (pre-paraglider I saw a lynel in the distance at one point and just noped right out  )

Warp out. On the map, choose surface and warp to a shrine.

The correct decision. I recall coming across my first lynel whilst still underpowered in BOTW and having a crack at it…oh dear!

Let me emphasize if you did not see. The map has three tiers-of-the-Kingdom on it. Surface, Sky, And Depths.

Switch to surface or Sky and warp to a tower or shrine.

Have you realized the Light Root trees are exactly where shrines are? Their names are reversed.

Note: I guess months ago that tears would be a pun on tiers as well as meaning tears. I appear to be correct.

Thank you. I had not noticed that!

I’m free!

I’ve fallen/climbed into a number of wells and warping out is the only option. If I had 3 stamina wheels, I could climb, but right now, it’s warp out or nothing.

I’m taking Monday off work to play, just like I said. Yep, I waited for tomorrow since I had no idea what time of day I’d get it on Friday.

I took mine Friday and it didn’t arrive until around 5:30. I’d have taken tomorrow too, but there were meetings dropped on my calendar before I thought to block it.

I’ll get over it. (I mean, I could be sick, but these are actual important meetings so I won’t)

I can’t believe how much fun I’m having.

Puzzles are incredibly well designed, allowing for a myriad of solutions. The dungeons (caves?) are beautiful and terrifying. Some of the monsters are really scary the first time.

I like the mix of new and familiar.

(10 shrines/3 towers in)

Am I just not good at video games anymore or is anyone else finding this a lot harder? I think I died 6 or 7 times in the opening area.
