Yes, I can only get so high and then I get lost in the wind and lose ground. When I look at other people playing, it looks like they are getting much more of a gust than I’m getting. That’s probably just me making excuses. I’m sure I’m doing something really stupid.
My grandson can probably help get me past it when I see him next.
I had no issue and I wonder what is up. Don’t feel bad. It isn’t supposed to be super challenging, but I will remind you:
USE ASCEND
It is easy to forget that a lot of the approach to the temple, and honestly all around Hyrule, is intended to be navigated through using Ascend. If it has a flat ceiling, it is likely designed to be ascended through.
Also, after you tell your little bird friend to get behind you, make sure he is right behind you and aimed correctly, then when he gusts, use your paraglider to ride the wind forward.
Oh I look for ascend every chance I get. I know I’m not using Tulin properly. I can’t figure out what the little bird is trying to tell me. I’m sure the bird feels the same about my moves. He or she is probably rolling their eyes quite hard.
When using the paraglider (flying in a straight line) you are constantly descending. The Tulin burst seems to launch you horizontally for a short distance before you start to descend again. Very helpful when facing the the Wind Temple boss.
I want to point out that Revali’s gale has at least three potential replacements:
Ascend, which helps you skip a lot of climbing.
Hylian Pinecones, which create almost an identical burst of wind up when you throw them in fire to a Revali’s Gale. This one is huge.
Attach a rocket to your shield and it will do a pretty good boost. Expensive, though. Hylian Pinecones are this games unsung hero and they are everywhere.
I beat the first temple a few days ago, and since have mostly been wandering around seeing old friends and doing side quests and shrines. I’ll get back to the main plot eventually. I’ve been to all the towns but the Zora and Gerudo at this point.
That said, one of the additions I find more annoying are the koroks you have to get to their friends. I mean, it’s nice that you get two seeds from them, but even with that, half the time I leave the first one just turtled where it is if it looks like too much trouble to get them to their friend right then.
I have avoided doing any Korok friend meetups unless they are relatively easy.
I had to deliver 8 mushrooms to people in a town and honestly, finding the 8 correct people was really frustrating. I love this game, but it still has some odd quests that are tedious and laborious.
Is anyone enjoying The Depths? I find them to be only OK for me. Lots of empty area, not a lot of excitement for me at this point.
Note: One solution that has worked is to go to the “green smoke Korok” and put a platform there. Walk the platform back to the seeking Korok, put him on it, and reverse time on it.
Works like an elevator if the green smoke Korok is up high.
I got two campsites mixed up while trying to reunite a Korok with his pal, and ended up setting him down near an incredibly armored Bokoblin. The poor little guy started yelling “Run away!”
I enjoy activating the light blooms and gathering things, but I don’t have quite enough hearts yet to feel comfortable tackling enemies. I hope that the plot fleshes out some things, like why do some of the statues down there look like Zora?
Yeah, I mean I fight some of the smaller camps, but it kind of sucks that even the rocks they throw at you cause a gloom-heart-loss. I mean, give me a fricking break.
You can go back to Lightroots and your gloom hearts will de-gloom, not just the first time you activate them.
I have plenty of sundelions, which make a gloom restoring recipe.
I have yet to find amazing things down there, but I presume some great stuff exists down there.
I’m not sure I’ve seen that island yet, unless the puzzle is more of a timed challenge, but most of the islands I’ve found are pretty barren, maybe a sundelion or fairy. I’ve enjoyed the challenge of the monsters in the depths and stumbling across the yiga hideouts down there.
Well, I finally got to the wind temple and had the monster 3/4 beat when my last bow broke. I almost cried, I think.
I broke in to a sweat fighting that guy so I’m gathering more experience in the world before I go back. I like the depths some. I just ran into the leader of Yiga Clan there and chased him off to another location. I don’t love the battles. I much prefer the puzzles.
So I got gifted this game, but I haven’t played it at all yet; I never beat the first game, and I feel like I should go back and complete it before I dive into this new game.
I had a major accomplishment today. It may not be that major, but it was to me and my kids. I’ll spoiler-box it, but if you have played enough, you may be familiar with the first portion of this.
I defeated what I call the “Gloom Hands”, those instense red-black hands with eyes that rise up from the ground randomly. I’ve run every other time, but I decided, “I’m going to do this.” I would suggest bombing them. Worked great.
I will spoil what happens after the above event because it was noteworthy to say the least.
Holy crap. Phantom Ganon rose up from the ground and attacked me. I can not believe this, but I defeated him. He was actually not that bad. He dropped an amazing sword and bow and a few other small item.
I am not kidding you. The above spoiled moment is an all-time great surprise and gaming moment for me.
