Ignore it? On the contrary - at least one former poster here just breathed the word “lawyer” and was gone despite a lengthy history with this board. Do you really think a thinly-veiled threat of cyber piracy will be ignored, when you are spelling out so clearly that you have the knowledge to do it (or at least think you do)? And don’t give me that “I’m just saying what someone might do” bullshit - when Al Capone says, “You might need protection from other unscrupulous individuals,” you know what he means. (And, please, don’t think I’m equating you with a mobster - a threat is a threat is a threat.)

The bottom line is not how I interpret it, but how the moderators, administrators, Ed Zotti, Cecil Adams and the Chicago Reader interpret it, and they have the final word.

You guys think its a game. I’m not playing. The point of this post was to get everyones aggressions out so I could post normally… So either ban me or finish getting the aggressions out so i can post.

This board is a primitive social structure, a ladder of respect that everyone is trying to top. The board is cliquey; there is much shameless sycophancy, flirting, and bullying.

I disagree - respect here seems to be earned by wit, intelligence, lack of ignorance, mutual respect and common sense. IMHO.

I know that I’m pretty unpopular (at least in the pit, I do well for myself in GQ), but that’s really by choice; I’m very unpopular with a lot of people in real life, too. Of course, I can only blame that so much on others’ inferiority complices; I do piss them off on purpose. The reason is that I can choose friends as easily as I can choose enemies, but this is a tangent.

So why would you choose to make someone an enemy? Why would you choose to be unpopular? Why would you choose to piss people off on purpose? Are these people you feel are somehow deserving, or do you just do it at random, or based on your mood that day?

People discriminate by age here, not because they disrespect the younger party per se, but because they become insecure in the presence of a legitimate intellect half their age, in a ‘culture’ that is stripped of superficiality (but only in the most obvious sense).

Not true. I may vehemently disagree with Rousseau in just about every way, but I respect the man has intelligence. It was only recently I found out he’s under 20. I was surprised only because he seems to not be the norm for that age range (I do have a lot of youngish friends). My opinion of him has not changed because of his age one whit. (I still don’t like him! :D)

Yes they could ban my Ip. However they would have to ban the root. That would make it ugly. That would cut off access to more than 16000 people. At least.

And who do you think will get blamed for that? Not the Straight Dope. You’ll be found out pretty quickly. There’s always someone smarter…and a lot of colleges and ISPs are charging cleanup fees and penalties these days.
