It’s funny you mention hero worship, because I originally had a line with exactly that term in it in my post, but I deleted it, thinking it wasn’t necessary. No one is hero worshiping Wilson. Those of us who are familar with his work consider him to be an accomplished scientist. He is a giant in his field-- that is a fact. Oh, I think there are quite a few more than you realize. Every so often, someone posts a poll asking Dopers what religions they follow, and there’s always a sizable company of pagans. More than I’d expect from a truly random sampling of the population. I wouldn’t mistake a lack of support for a lack of commonality of your religious/spiritual views. Could be that most other New Agers are just embarassed by you.
