Anyone else seen this little delightful film that is getting thrown to the wayside?
Stars Bruce Campbell as an old picture/audio perfect Elvis Presley. Ossie Davis plays JFK (he is now black because the government dyed him). Together this geriatric duo squares off a reanimated mummy out to steal the souls of the elderly.
I saw it last summer at the Cine-Vegas film festival. I can’t believe that this isn’t getting a theatrical release while another film I saw at the same convention, Sunshine State, did. What a piece of crap that was!
Bruce Campbell was there in person. The guy is just hilarious. Some guy in the audience asked, “Can I come give you a hug?” Bruce responded, “Can I punch you in the eye?”
Another good movie from that festival was “Poolhall Junkies”. It is out on DVD now, and I highly recommend it.
I hope Bubba Ho-tep at least gets a video release.
There’s a long thread on this movie already in the system, try a search when the hamsters have calmed down. Actually there are two other threads, I started one because my search missed it too.
I’m a huge Evil Dead, Evil Dead 2, Army of Darkness, and Bruce Campbell fan, so I saw Bubba Hotep at the Landmark here in Chicago. It was a good film, but not nearly as good as the others. It was funny in parts, but it also got a bit repetitive and not nearly as witty as the others.
