I’m not saying the mayor was as powerful as possible, I’m just pointing out he’s greedy. I mean isn’t it enough to be an immortal demon-worshiping mayor of a small Californa town sitting ontop of a gateway to a hell-dimension? Nooooooo he needs to turn himself into a giant snake for even more power.
I don’t remember everything about the ritual of invincibility, I do remember that it was only going to last until the ascension. From what I gathered it wasn’t tied into the ascension per se.
Tim: No, the mayor’s invincibility was the first step in the process of Ascension. The mayor says something towards that effect when he first becomes invincible, although I can’t remember the exact words. As to the whys of the worm couple of things: I think that being turned into a demon carries significant gains in terms of magic power. The Mayor was obviously a powerful wizard, perhaps as powerful as a human can become. I think the only way for him to get more was through the Ascension, which had the side effect of turing him into the world’s largest nightcrawler. Also, along with a bunch more raw magic power, who knows what other abilities he gets with his new form? Maybe those giant worm demons are also shapeshifters, or can possess the minds of others and use them as vessels, or what have you.

Homages? I’d say blood sacrifices or burnt offerings would be more apropos. You make it sound like he was writing poems about them.
I have been taping them all. The only one I haven’t gotten is Anne and that is because there were problems with the cable feed and it didn’t come through. Just a bunch of blank screen.
This way I figure that I can just watch anyone at anytime I want because we will have them all on tape and so instead of not studying to watch Buffy, I can study and then watch Buffy in my free time.
Yeah, they switched to this from only showing it at seven, with the same episode continuity, without announcing it, which is why I missed a bunch of really really good season 2 eps, including the one where Angel first goes Angelus.
I respectfully disagree. I recall FX announcing that there would be double the Buffy in November. Of course, they actually started the two episodes thing on 10/29 (i.e. the first Monday in the week in which November started).
That reminds me, I guess I should check their site to see what’s up starting next week.
