Howdy Y’all! We had a rainy day that became a N.O.S. day mid-afternoon. Weather be weird. Temp has gone down to 67 Amurrkin and temps will be what we call mild (upper 60s to mid 70s) over the next several days. We slothed, achieved nappage and had sup. Thus was the day.
flyboy I know what you’re talkin’ about. My father had a sack of sackies. They are now my youngest niece’s sack of sackies. She adds sackies to the sack. I think she has somewhere around ninety sackies. I have no idea how many sackies a sack can hold. I expect it depends on the sack.
MOOOOOOM glad FIL is OK and that you got your Sonny’s fix.
shoe I too am a fan of the alien comics. They always crack me up.
It’s raining. Also, Earth is round. In the NOT-a-given department, I sloshed to the gym earlier, came home and showered, and am about to leave for the optometrist’s office. It must be Eye Doctor Day, eh, Taters? Hope your vision is OK.
The itching isn’t bad, chums. It’s just when I’m lying in bed with nothing to distract me.
Human Disposals: my black lab used to chew through empty dog food cans. Her favorite trick was to get used coffee filters out of the trash and spread the wet grounds on the carpet. Shoulda opened a Starbarks. Sometimes she’d drag out only one item: the metal canister holding cleaning brushes. She wouldn’t tip the tin, take out the brushes, or chew on them. Apparently she thought I should scrub more often.
Aww, thanks. You’re the best!
At least you HAVE a lawn! I have to go out and yell at kids on other people’s lawns. It gets awkward when the kids actually live there.
Aw, he’s a good kid. I remember telling my mom, “You get on me about stuff I’m already kicking myself for!” It seemed like Double Jeopardy to me.
FCM, sorry about your FIL. I was worried he’d be in worse shape. And I thought
You’re both better than I. I thought it meant “completely fu–king over.” I was shocked, just shocked, mind you.
My sister once had a pound pupper, Seamus (schnauzer mix) who, after a dinner party, when everyone had adjourned to the patio for coffee / booze / smokes, got up onto the dining room table and ate the chocolate brownies she had made for dessert, tinfoil pan and all! And after all of that chocolate and aluminum, he had no ill effects.
Went to irk as a witch today. We had one group that did Alice in Wonderland, one department that did Squid Games and superheroes out on the receiving dock. Much candy was passed out and a good day was had by all.
I took Nelson to the dog park once I changed clothes after irk. We escaped about the time that it began to sprinkle because it was windy, damp and cold. About the time we got inside, a deluge of rain and higher winds began. It’s still spitting a little rain. I got chilled enough that I made a pot of lemon - ginger tea instead of pouring my usual glass of iced tea for supper.
Dad called a bit ago and told me that a former bandmate had passed on (RIP Kelly). If you had ever shared a mic with him, you totally got the Billy Joel line …and the microphone smelled like a beer.
Kelly was the leader of the first band I ever played with. I began sitting in with the Knight Riders at the age of 17 as a vocalist. Kelly was the lead vocalist / front man. It was ~1980 and we did barroom country at places like the VFW, American Legion, Moose, Elks, Eagles, etc. I eventually joined as the keyboardist / vocalist along with Jack, the lead guitarist, Steve on rhythm guitar, Len (Boom Boom) on bass and Mike (my big crush at the time) on drums. All but Mike and I were guys in their thirties and forties, but we had fun. there were times when Mike and I had to be the designated drivers, given that we were underaged and weren’t served at the venues where we played. In addition to band practice and gigs, I used to hang out at Kelly’s and his lady AC’s house a couple of times a week for their nightly canasta games. He left behind a lot of (grown) kids / stepkids, two ex-wives and his current lady, AC having passed a few years back. The last time that I saw him was at my cousin DeeDee’s funeral (he was playing in her husband’s band at the time) about six years ago. He will be missed.
An so-so day here in paint-land. Got paid for a month of random crap at the restaurant gig, so that’s good. Have no future gigs lined up, so that’s bad. Gonna get paid on the museum gig, so that’ll take me through december, so that’s good.
Rant deleted. I sometimes type up a whole thing, then decide that you all don’t need to hear my bad news/difficulties/downers.
missred Sorry for your loss. He sounds like he was a lot of fun.
Back from the eye doctor. I was late even because my Uber was late and then traffic was bad. I always allow extra time, but it wasn’t enough today. Then afterward, I had to wait 25 minutes–same driver, but they were short of drivers. He was nice.
Eye doc said the lens was over-correcting my vision and needed some other changes, so we head into round 3. Also, the lens was trapping air bubbles that were abrading my cornea, hence the soreness.
RIP Kelly. He sounds like a vivid presence. I’m sorry you lost him, red. Knight Riders was a great name for a circa 1980 band! Re: your drummer crush, a drummer once told me all drummers, including himself, were basically like Animal on The Muppets. Any truth to that?
Howdy. Back from the dead. I got my Moderna booster on Moanday and it put me down for two days. Slight headache at first then sore all over, muscles and joints. I feel better today.
Tis raining right now which I love. Got both critters in bed with me and about to find something to watch.
Next Moanday is the anniversary of hubs death. I’m leaving here probably Sat morning with the dog and going to Melbourne to visit son and family. Need a change of scenery and maybe my son will get off my back to visit. It shall be weird to back in the real world for a few days. Sonny boy is very excited and already planning menus.
My knees have started to ache again so it’s time for an ortho visit and the insurance game to get my yearly joint fluid replacement. I need to make a dentist appt and I also need new glasses. Always something to take my money.
Hope the in-laws are as good as can be FCM. Sari what kind of job did your son get and good on him for getting out into the world.
They have a big privacy fenced backyard so my little hellion hound can be free. They have two pit bulls but they are the best behaved dogs I have ever seen. We will introduce them slowly. My dog has met one of theirs but not the youngest. I am sure they will be fine.
I am not going this coming weekend but next. This week is Freak Fest (Fantasy Fest) and the traffic will be horrendous this weekend. It’s about an eight hour drive. I’m hoping I get to see a space launch while there. I know I will be made to go fishing but that’s Ok.
I’m unfamiliar with them being featured in a TV show. I just started calling them that when they were issued. I’m pretty sure I started or posted in a thread about them.
Have any Suzies? I probably do, but I don’t know where they are.
Doggone Higgs decided she needed to pee at 3:40 so I did the honors, after I found her leash. It was blowing like crazy out there! I expect more than one wind chime will be tangled before it’s over.
Anyway, she’s sleeping again, as is FCD. Not me, tho. Dammit. Hope I can doze again after posting this. Then one more night here before we hit the road again.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 56 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 67 and partly N.O.S. for the day. I shall deal with some church janitor Junior Warden duties this mornin’. Other than that the usual sloth shall rule the day. Sup shall be burgers 'n fixin’s with fries. I shall also make the brownies I did not make yestiddy.
{{{red}}} sorry about your friend. Sounds like he would have been a hoot to be around.
{{{Butters}}} I’m sure the trip will be fun and do you and Buddy a lot of good. Gotta get our Moderna boosters lined up soon.
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.
Still in bed. BIL is sleeping on the couch so being out there is weird. But I need to get up and have breakfast. Glad we’re leaving tomorrow. I miss our comfy bed.
