Good day today Tar-jay, lunch at Cracker Barrel and then grocery store. mr ems and LibbyCat then took a nap. I have the picture evidence to prove it
Tonight we are headed out for a yummy steak dinner that I have a Groupon coupon for. Tomorrow we are having brekkie out and making Gumbo for supper. Nice weekend all round.
Howdy Y’all! Back from cookin’ over to the church house. Actually I’ve been back for around two hours. Know what’s nice? Comin’ home to steak, shrimpies and sallit for dindin. Sometimes I get spoilt.
The <snerk> butts <snerk> are all cooked and shredded. The mac ‘n c heese and baked beans are done. The dressin’ for the slaw also got done. Tomorrow mornin’ will be reheat the meat and beans and heat the mac & cheese with some shredded cheddar and breadcrumbs on top for extra goodness. Dessert shall be cookies and chawklit sheetcake. ‘Twill be a good meal. At one point today I was standin’ at the stove whiskin’ two pots of white sauce for the mac & cheese and attemptin’ to add milk and half and half. Somehow I managed to do all of that almost simultaneously. I amaze myself!
Ok that’s all I got. Havin’ a hard time keepin’ my eyes open and I be achy. Ima take some PM stuff and go lie upon the bed and watch teevee next to OYKW.
Back from babysitting at Local Best Friend’s. She and hubby got last-minute football tickets. I entertained and was entertained by the 4-year-old. We ran around, painted, drew, rode bikes (well, she did), danced, played games, played with Polly Pockets, and read stories. She seems to have fallen asleep as soon as I left her room.
I’m sleepy now and need to get up at a reasonable time to get ready fornwork.
Good heavens. All you healthy people must be doing whatever it is people who are not actively dying do. I guess we need to add Nava, she of the oh-so-lickable verbs, to the list of sickness-fighting mmpers. It’s starting to look a doctor’s waiting room around here! I think my dog was healthier after drinking that quart of Pennzoil than I am now… go figure.
Anyway, I’m going to head to bed. My sleep has been screwy the past few days. Need some zzzzzzzzssssss…
BTW FCM, next time you’re in my neck of the woods try Abby’s pizza. Makes Papa Johns look like baked… well, modesty forbids, but let’s just say it is far superior. In fact, last I had PJs was in Montana. Many, many years ago and with luck never again.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’. YAWN 'Tis a chilly 38 Amurrkin out with a predicted high of 70. Nice Fall day here in south Jawja.
Fiat I first read that as Arby’s pizza and thought, do I heave up now or after I post. Feel better. Feel better everybody. I have spoken. So Mote It Be.
Now I need more caffiene and rumbly tummy demands to be fed. Then I must purtify for deheathenization and the readyin’ of much food substances. I wish BooFae were here because I should could use her to stand guard outside the kitchen with her pointy stick. People have a tendency to wander in the kitchen and just stand around. This is not needed especially today. I’m not real sure, but I think runnin’ over people with roll carts is frowned upon at church. Maybe the roll carts need to be fitted with air horns so I can warn folks I’m comin’.
Were you doing this dressed in one of those white chef’s outfits, complete with the funky hat? And were you shouting out instructions to all your sous-chefs? That’s how I imagined it. After all, you weren’t fryin’ bacon, so you wouldn’t have been nekkid… Plus it was at church and all.
**BBBobbio **- we didn’t get snow here, or if we did, I didn’t see it falling. Every time I let the dog out, it was raining. And at the moment, it’s freezing - I’m glad I brought my spider plants into the garage.
**Woody **- I know there are lots better places for pizza in the world, but not in my area - at least not within reasonable driving distance. Plus my spousal unit likes PJ’s wings, which is what he got. I must say, tho, I have yet to have pizza as good as those I had in Sicily. <insert drooling here>
Plans for the day include doing a load of whites - our underwear drawers are getting dangerously close to empty. And I need to go to the convenience center either today or tomorrow. And my sweetie’s b-day is Thursday - I’m trying to find out what he wants for dinner so I can shop accordingly. Plus he’ll be getting punkin pie, since he likes that better’n cake. Anyway, that’ll be today.
**Moooooom, **the snow was a brief flurry of slush that didn’t stick. It was just enough to get my Recreational Disgust going. There was a very impressive layer of frost on the Foomobile when I left for home this morning.
Had a call and a half. The full call was for a 27 year old drama queen with abdominal pain. It could have been an appendix problem, an ovarian cyst, or many other things. She mentioned going to a very fiber intensive diet recently, so my money is on her need to take a really good shit. The saving grace is she was cute, dressed like a cheap hooker for a Halloween party, and had a very impressive cleavage on full public display.
The half call was for trouble breathing, in the town where Mooooooom keeps her boat. It’s in another county, and we got it for mutual aid. Apparently, both of their units were busy, but one became available and took the call from us. We got out of the station, but not off the property, before being cancelled.
Both calls were timed just so, to keep me from getting any useful sleep. It’s 9 AM now, I’ve had brekkies, and I’s going to bed.
I have been up since 6.30. Why you may ask? mr ems for some unknonwn reason had his alarm set for 6.30 on his cell phone. Which was in the kitchen. And he couldn’t hear it. By the time I kicked him out of bed - it was quicker than me getting up and limping through - to get it I was wide awake. He is still snoozing and I have wiped the kitchen down and emptied the dishwasher and made coffee and fed LibbyCat.
Supper last night was gooooooood. I had poke tenderloin with black cherry sauce and mr ems had grouper with parmesan & bacon risotto. We shared beer battered green beans for starters and shared pumpkin bread pudding for desert. Yum.
I shouldn’t be but I am hungry again and ready to go for brekkie. I may have to go poke mr ems with the pointy stick!
Good luck keeping people out the kitchen who do nothign today swampy!
Sulking today- local supermarket has my very very favourite drink- belgian raspberry beer - on special, and I’m dosed up to the eyeballs on prescription painkillers, which I can’t have alcohol with.
The bottle’s riiiight there, taunting me. Daring me to drink it and feel terrible for hours.
Must… resist…
Too creaky for circus club today, and I hate missing it. May have to go rent a children’s film from the local shop, to cheer myself up. Nothin’ like watching kiddie stuff when you feel rotten. Might convince me that I’m really not old, even if I did have to phone Kew Gardens last week to reserve a mobility scooter for my trip there next month… I’m only 28
At least our clocks went back today, so I got to spend an extra hour in bed without feeling lazy
You people all seem to make awesome food, by the way- though I’m a bit bewildered by the concept of chicken tortilla soup… How does that work?
I should go drag myself up to the shop, I’m out of milk- anyone want to come over and push me up there in a wheelbarrow?
Yesterday I was rear-ended. While sitting at a red light! Idiot. My trunk is smushed in a bit, and it won’t latch. I’m fine, except for a sore arm which is just a muscular ache. My Dad was with me, but he’s fine, too.
I’ve contacted both of our insurance companies. This is gonna be a pain.
The upside is we were already thinking of buying a new car for me, so we’ll try to keep the repairs payout from the insurance company, and trade in my car as-is.
And last night I was taken to The Cheesecake Factory for dinner. It was very good, and I had some kind of cheesecake/chocolate cake concoction for dessert. Yum! I still have some leftover, cuz I was stuffed. Is it sinful to eat cheesecake for lunch?
Howdy Y’all! Home from deheathenization and N.O.L.. Everything went well. The stewardship N.O.L. was a huge success and I’m happy to report no one was pointy sticked or run over with a roll cart. Folks seemed to realize it was a good idea to stay out of the kitchen whilst the cooks were busy. Plus there was the added bonus of an organized cleanup crew afterwards, so I left. Rah! There are two trays of <snerk> shredded butt <snerk> left over which I labeled for Sunday Brunch November 6th and stuck in da freezer. Next week is All Saint’s Sunday ( Tuesday is actual All Saint’s Day but in true Whiskypalian Sunday we shall celebrate the followin’ Sunday) and the Luteruns are joinin’ us. I figure the extra bbq will come in handy as they will be joinin’ us for eats.
We went out for lunch, then ran to Lowe’s for a circuit breaker, and swung by the local pet store, but they close early on Sunday, so we missed them. Oh well. Two loads of laundry done - that was productive, right? I also ran the dishwasher. Yeah, that’s productive too.
A roofer came out a few months ago and said the chimney was leaking, rather than the roof itself. The guys who took down the chimney were getting ready to sheet the wall when they found a small hole in the roof. Not a big one, just big enough that we’d get water in the house in a heavy rain. The good news is that only the bit of roof near then end of the peak is rotten. The bad news is that they have to replace a couple of beams. I can’t wait for this thing to be fixed.
