Burn Notice..the flame dies final episodes

I didn’t see anyone start a thread about the final episodes. Anyone following the death of the shark?

It’s on my Tivo; I’ll probably get around to watching it this weekend.

How many episodes are in this last season? As much as I have enjoyed this show overall, I am glad they are ending it. Truthfully, they probably should have wrapped everything up about two seasons ago.

I believe there are seven episodes, total left.

This was a series that had a great premise, but the original writers forgot about one minor thing - what if the show is a hit? How far can you take a show that is basically about someone trying to clear his name and get back in the game?

At some point, your hero has to succeed or else he is the dumbest guy on earth.

So yeah, I am going to miss some of the characters and cool little tricks and the occasional fun side-story, but it really is time to wrap this up one way or another.

Way back when, there was a show called The Fugitive - searching for the one-armed guy who really killed the hero’s wife. Great concept and had a nice run - but eventually the audience did indeed want to see the one-armed guy caught (and huge ratings for that last episode!).

The point is - when coming up with an idea for a series, take a minute to think about the impossible happening - your show runs for many seasons! What then?

I still think the show “Lost” was a great premise, and then when they kept getting renewed, they sort of started making up shit as they went along…if they had been renewed a few more seasons, we would have seen zombies, vampires, aliens, unicorns and godknowswhat on that freakin’ island, and flashbacks would start happening in 1865 with great-great grandparents…they “lost” their train of thought about half way through season two.

Farewell, Burn Notice - you were fun for awhile. Do us proud with a satisfying ending this finale season!

I have two seasons on the DVR I’ve not watched.

I really liked the flop Touching Evil that Jeffrey Donovan was in.

While watching the “Previously on Burn Notice…” part, I realized I had stopped watching for at least one season. Didn’t even remember I had stopped recording it. I’ll ride out these last few eps to see how it ends - but it all seems deja vuey: Michael doing a job he doesn’t want to do, for someone he doesn’t want to work for, to clear his name or his firends names/safety.

I’m still watching, and I’ll be sorry to see Burn Notice go. I love Bruce Campbell, Sharon Gless, and Gabrielle Anwar. The villains have been very well cast, too. Jeffrey Donovan is not bad, but the supporting cast usually outshines him.

Wow, that was pretty painful. I usually enjoy Burn Notice, but that one just stunk. I think it’s run its course. I hope they do something good with this season and it’s not all like the season opener.

The Bruce Campbell TV movie was good.
A great character and actor in Burn Notice, too.

Lost interest several seasons ago. When we had to go beyond willing suspension of disbelief and into full fledged “disbelief held hostage and tortured by so many logical inconsistencies that the brain turns to pudding and tries to flee through your eyeballs to get away”.

I agree that they sort of wrote themselves into a corner. But, once accepting that as a necessary evil, I’ve enjoyed all the episodes every season. The witty banter, the clever schemes, the beautiful scenery*. What’s not to love?

I was a little disappointed, though, that Maddy gave up smoking. What is this world coming to!

  • and by scenery, I don’t mean the landscapes.

For those who missed episodes and want to revisit them, and who have Netflix. All previous seasons are available there for streaming.

Bob

Yep. See also: seasons 1-6.

for being such a super know it all spy - he seems to constantly get used by people -

I liked the earlier episodes where he constantly ‘turned it around’ - now there are so many layers of people ‘using’ him there is no wonder he got burned -

SimWife and I hold very little hope that this season will be fullfilling, but we’re riding it out till the end.

Anyone still watching? I’m enjoying watching Michael self-destruct in these last few episodes, and the way they keep you wondering if he is totally losing it, or keeping his sanity hanging by a thread.

Still watching. I am enjoying it overall, and I am looking forward to the finale on Thursday!

I’d like it if he actually turned - but I have a feeling it will be one of those “that was the plan the whole time, because when you’re a spy, sometimes your friends have to believe you’re the enemy”

I’m still watching…to the bitter end.

I’m hoping that they all die in the end, except Chuck Finley. Too bad they killed Simon - I liked Simon.

I laughed during Michael’s meltdown a few episodes back, then laughed even harder at the tweets lauding his acting. The only thing funnier than tweets praising Donovan’s acting are tweets praising Anwar’s acting. A week or so latter, I saw Walter White have a similar breakdown, and thought, “Jeffrey Donovan should be taking notes.”

Who the hell is Simon?

I must really look at the DVR.
