It’s pretty hard to be funny in English as a Second Language. I don’t think my OP in Swedish would have been nuanced and free of errors. Don’t stop coming to the Dope just because of this thread.
I’m sorry if I seem overly testy but I have no patience for self aggrandizing politicians who not only make racist slurs but imply the people who elected them are bigots. Then can’t own their own words, and when called on it, only back pedal. I find it smarmy and it sets me off. Sorry.
To further act the martyr grinds on my last nerve, truly.

I was actually just checking your capacity for detecting irony, by piling it on in bigger and bigger chunks. You earlier asked me to point out where I was being ironic in my OP, and instead of doing so I figured I would just keep turning the irony meter up and see how your irony detector was calibrated. Unfortunately the result is that I am apparently incapable of being ironic enough for you to detect it. Oh the irony…

a) based on a completely false assumption and/or misunderstanding of intent
b) horribly over dramatic (weeping for Sweeden? Really?)

Since I am a fun loving guy and not much for flame festivals I chose another approach, but I feel that it is unlikely that you and I would have any constructive communication since the distance between who you think I am and who I think I am is best measured on a galactic scale.

Ok, now I am seriously starting to worry that I am being whooshed or trolled. I will make a final attempt at communication, but if you are whooshing me… consider it accomplished.
If you look at the date stamp of my first post and my second, you’ll see that they are two months apart. What happened was I made an observational post (the comedy value of which evaded a few people obviously) in the MPSIMS forum, which I immediatly lost track of and which was moved to the Pit. Searching for another post I re-discovered this thread and was amazed and surprised (and amused) at the weird (but very interesting) turn it had taken. But I felt that although it was funny, I was probably obligated to explain it. So I did.
You’ve somehow managed to put an amazingly sinister spin on the whole process. Most if not all of the posters that initially got the wrong idea figured it out after a while, and the rest got it when I explained it. You didn’t. So I can only assume that you are either:
a) Whooshing me (in which case: Bravo, I fell for it)
b) Really mean what you say (in which case… I dunno, I feel sympathy for you I guess? You seem pretty angry and bitter but you may well have good reason for doing so).
If ‘b’ is true I guess you have some issues with politicians? It might interest you to know that the system in Sweden is quite different. Here more than 95% of politicians are pretty much volunteer workers. They don’t get paid, but use their spare time trying to be part of society and influence it in what they believe is a positive way. I actually respect 95% of my political opponents because they don’t do what they do for money (they don’t get any) fame (barely anyone knows they do it) or acknowledgement (they mainly get criticism).
Anyway, this is about as much effort as I am willing to put into it. Once again, if it’s a whoosh, good job. If it’s not, good luck.
I’m pretty sure at this point that if there’s a stick involved anywhere, you’ll grab the wrong end of it. Even if that end is labeled “the wrong end.” And there’re bees on it.
Maybe you’re right, maybe I’m wrong and blinded by my own hate of smarmy politicians, which I’m willing to own.
And, you’re right, I didn’t notice the two month gap, but I don’t see that it excuses what appears to be you making racial slurs and implying your fellow citizens are bigots while you are mighty evolved.
I’ll ask you again, you say “it was funny”, please show me the funny. Funny like a racist joke is meant to be funny? Yeah, I have no tolerance for people who tell racist jokes and find it truly egregious in a public official.
I’d be willing to believe it was problems with English not being your first language if you didn’t clearly have a firm grip of the language in your other posts. This strikes me as just another way of being oily and not having to own your words.
And I don’t see how the difference in the pay structure of politicians in Sweden has any bearing on it quite honestly.
Look, I’m not going to put any more energy into explaining something to you that you didn’t think was funny. To me you’re an anonymous angry person, I made some attempts to clarify because obviously there was a misunderstanding but it’s not really that important to me what you think or believe. That’s not a personal slight on you, to me you’re just one out of millions of angry anonymous people and I just can’t go around caring about what all of them think. Especially since there is almost never any real desire to understand the other persons positions, it just makes any energy spent communicating wasted. You didn’t get what the OP was about, I’m not going to keep explaining it to you, move on.
If that upsets you I can only advise you to get back at me by moving to Sweden and not voting for me.

As skewed as my perspective may be, and as alone as I may be in feeling so, I am still left wondering how the people who elected this fellow would feel to see themselves portrayed in this way. No matter how I look at it I see a post, to an international board, displaying how amusing he finds it to happen upon a fellow citizen who is not a bigot. Would he have posted this funny story to a Swedish board?
Of course I know nothing of the Swedish sense of humour, I admit that.
Alright you got me. I admit I have horribly over reacted. Racial slurs and oily politicians hit all my buttons, I admit.

I am over sensitive on this and take back my “weeping” for Sweden.
This will be my last post to this thread as I clearly cannot play nice or, apparently, keep perspective.
