I think Smapti should open a parody Twitter account( non-parody name) and tweet in Trump’s “voice”. See if anyone picks up on it and even better, get banned as a Trump sock.
Part of that, however, would likely be because they also did a huge sweep of QAnon tweeters, for the same reason they banned Trump.
I had no idea about this until I listened to the latest Reply All podcast (dated 01/14/2021).
I read an article, probably posted here, that had a pretty good explanation on why Twitter was so important to Trump. It allowed him to be in complete control of his message and the character limit was perfect because it disguised his inability to put together longer thoughts. He had access to other forms of direct communication–like his COVID pressers–but the formats allowed him to go on too long and they largely ended up hurting him. Twitter and his TV show put him into the White House.
Perhaps he should host a new version of The Biggest Loser.
Twitter said they were going to keep him off for a week to avoid Inauguration and after violence.

Lara Trump is apparently considering running for Senate in NC in 2022 as Burr is retiring. The current excitement level for this is somewhere around “Jeb Bush” levels.
I’d say the instant gratification was a big part of it for him as well - he can’t give a press conference and watch the little numbers tick upward in real time, and without “ratings” he has no way to gauge how much people are paying attention to him.

I give it 72 hours after reinstatement as a private individual before he goes careening over the line again, wings aflame and mouth afroth.
Why are they letting him back on again?
So he can go back to fomenting discord, spread more dangerous misinformation, and actively work to upend your government?

If they let him back the government SHOULD remove any protection from them being a ‘publisher’, and only a platform.
Yeah, that’s what I thought too. Was he just suspended, not banned? I thought he was gone from Twitter permanently.
On the other hand, now that he’s no longer POTUS who gives a fuck what he tweets? (Hopefully the media doesn’t continue to report on every stupid little thing he tweets like they have for the last six years…)
72 hours is generous, and will only apply if someone else is keeping an eye on him. Otherwise there will be another middle of the night tweetstorm on the first night and that will be it.
The only reason he wasn’t already banned long ago was their exemption for heads of state.
I guess their reasoning is that he now gets to start with a clean slate without the exemption? I guess you can make some theoretical case that you can’t hold him accountable for violating rules that you told him he was exempt from at the time.
Seems pretty dubious to me.
I believe you all are confusing Facebook suspension with Twitter, as Facebook is until after inauguration but everything I read says Twitter is Permanent
