Butt-Hurt Trump Takes to Twitter Again (Part 2)

As President Donald Trump behaves ever more erratically in the waning weeks of his term, Republicans and Democrats alike wonder: What’s he thinking?

To all those who would divine in the president’s floundering a grand strategy, or even a small one, let me offer some caution: If you go rummaging around in Trump’s brain right now, you’re going to emerge empty-handed.

DumbDonald? Thinking?

Does Biden even PLAY golf? Anyone know?

I figure his game is cribbage.

And what is wrong with that?

According to this article, he has memberships at a few clubs in Delaware and a 6.8 handicap (is that good? I don’t make enough money to know such things.)

A 6.8 handicap is pretty darned good for an amateur golfer, particularly one in his 70s. It means that, on an 18-hole course with a par score of 72, on an average day, he’d expect to hit a 78 or 79 – your handicap number is how many strokes above par on an 18-hole course you score, on average.

Also, for reference, Trump apparently claims to have a 2.8 handicap, but given the widespread reports of him being creative about how he scores himself (i.e., he cheats at golf), there’s reason for skepticism about this.

As noted in this article from 2019, which quotes a book written by sports journalist Rick Reilly, Commander in Cheat: How Golf Explains Trump:

I have a personal question, which I have no problem with you refusing to answer. He’s been tweeting this nonsense bullshit on the official POTUS twitter for the last 4 years. None of this is secret, unknown, or new.
Did you vote for him in 2020?

I’m not sure how you could take that post in any way as support for Trump. I was just dismayed (but not surprised) that he was giving credence to a silly CT like 5G. I don’t remember seeing that one before.

I don’t expect anyone to remember my posts out the hundreds of excellent Dopers but I’ve made it quite clear that I believe Trump to be a disaster of epic proportions. I was hoping the GOP would get hammered in November for their support of Trump.

I somehow thought you were a Republican, or supporter of Reublicans. To be dismayed at Trump’s childish lunacy, but still support him as POTUS in charge of the nuclear codes kind of baffles me.

And now I’m baffled at where did you get that about Deeg.

Here’s my take on that (sort of). Remember how a couple of years ago, a significant share of us were slagging on asahi as being an over-reacting doomsayer? Well, over time, he began seeming more and more reasonable, based on the accumulated empirical evidence. So that particular Overton window has shifted in asahi’s direction. Deeg just hasn’t shifted with it.

Does that make any sense?

Over in the American Coup thread Deeg is coming across, to me, as an apologist for the Republicans who are wiping their asses with the shreds of the formerly orderly and patriotic transition of administrations.

Did they run out of Constitution?

They’re down to the second amendment, and they’re confused about how to proceed!

To be fair, asahi himself has become a bit more moderate than he used to be. For example, he’s stopped suggesting that Republicans be sent to re-education camps. Although in retrospect…

How soon we forget. I don’t see him as becoming more moderate (nor should he!), maybe a bit worn out. It’s just that finally everyone else is catching up with reality and now they’re overwriting their memories of how he was treated.

So here we are. Because I have the temerity to push back on some of the anti-Republican sentiment I must be a Trump voter. To some Dopers you either hate all Republicans with the fury of a thousand suns, believe that they are all evil, stupid, and the spawn of Satan or you’re a Trump voter.

I was hoping for a Blue Wave this election. I wanted the GOP to be punished for their active (Lindsey Graham) or tacit (Susan Collins) support of Trump. That said it’s still possible to believe that not all Republicans want to illegally overturn the election.

The ones that don’t sure are afraid to speak up.
