Cabin fever in the MMP

Made a pot of chicken veggie soup that is out of this world good. No go on using my official computer at home. It just won’t work. Between me and my one full time employee we are gonna take turns using the hard wired connection in my office at irk. This is what has to happen to get everyone off my back. She was going today and I’ll go on Moanday and we’ll switch off. I shall go for a half day at least.

Happy weekend everyone. Stay safe and distanced.

I can get behind that Finnish tradition Dooogggioooo

I’m on the ground floor, and the leak is apparently from the apartment above me.

Ouch.

They seem to be having a plumbing issue in their shower. Both of the involved apartments have two bathrooms (exact same floor plan), so maintenance has them not using that particular shower for now, instead using their other one.

This morning, I took Roxy for a walk in her car - she mostly rode, but she did walk a bit. Then after her nap, we walked thru our woods and I clipped back a bunch of overhanging branches. Now I’m waiting for Daughter to empty the dishwasher so I can refill it and get supper started. We’ll be having ham, cornbread, cauliflower, and green beans-n-shrooms-n-onions. Nice healthy supper, right?

Got me lots of fresh air and sunshine today!

Well, we had a plumber out from The Dalles this morning. He cut out the crumbling drain pipes with a sawzall and replaced them. It turned out to require a little ad-libbing as ours is an old sink, but as it happened, a drain from a bathtub fit in it just fine and works well. He also opened up the pipes in the basement and found the sponge, pretty much where I told him I thought it was. (He only had to muscle one ‘cleanout’ open to do it.) I don’t think I could have done it myself. I’m a pretty big guy, but I have a lot of mileage on this old body. It was kinda spendy, but we’re happy.

Dinner tonight will be homemade pizza. Probably pepperoni. Maybe with pineapple, but prolly not. I like pepperoni w/ pineapple, but Wifey, not so much. :frowning:

Now I’m off to surf the innerwebz.

Well, cutting holes in my bathroom ceiling was not necessary, since the sheetrock is still nice and hard. Wasn’t looking forward to a fan running in there all weekend, so that’s nice.

Maintenance guy insisted on us being out of the way due to my symptoms (never mind I’ve been feeling pretty good for almost a week now), so we did a minor grocery run, then got a takeout lunch and took it to a park along our route just for some fresh air and actual daylight.

Evening, friends.

Very little to report here. I’ve been pretty poorly and trying to make it day to day. I don’t know if I mentioned that there’s a little tree outside my window by my bed with a bird feeder in it and I’ve passed some of the time by watching the birds and taking pictures of them. I feel almost like a book cliche of an an invalid doing that, but whatever. The tree is… I’m not sure what it is, but the leaves start out a really brilliant red in the spring, then get darker red, then sort of get streaks of green and yellow in them. But basically, it’ll be really beautiful in the near future. I’m thinking I should take pictures of the same branch every week and put them together to sort of document the process. They have little buds on the end right now. There are chickadees making a home in the bird house and a northern flicker working diligently on a hole in a half-dead tree. I’ve seen lots of cardinals, tufted titmouses (titmice?), red-bellied woodpeckers (I think?) and this other really handsome one that I think is a woodpecker and has a fully orange head, but I’m not totally sure what it is. The ones I know, I mostly got by googling. I’m as good at birds as I am at trees, apparently. For someone who loves science, I’m a shit naturalist.

here are some of the birds in case someone wants to… idk, look at birds. I’m not sure it’s obvious in the one of the flicker on the tree, but he’s just gotten a beak full of wood dust and is flinging it, which is what all the mess is in front of his face.

That picture of the flicker is particularly interesting.

Mooooooom, a lot of the grocery stores around here restrict the first hour open to seniors and immune compromised folks. That may be the reason that FL was so busy this morning.

Irked, knocked off ~2, came home, walked Nelson on the greenway, played in the studio, then took a little drive (Nelson rode along) and picked up some KFC for supper. I remember now why I usually go to Popeye’s or Bojangles. The Colonel had no mac and cheese  , the white meat was dry and the most prominent flavor of the breading was salt.

I girl scouted a cloth mask from a bandana (I have a stack of them in my dresser) and two rubber bands. It fit nicely and there was no cutting or sewing involved, so I’ll be wearing one whenever I leave the house by car.

I scored a Dungeness crab for dinner. With the state on lockdown and the fish place closed, I felt like I was going on a drug deal. Knock on the door. Wait for someone to answer. Don’t go inside. Anyway, I procured the item.

I bisected it with a cleaver and a mallet, cleaned out the guts and gills, put it in boiling salted water for 11 minutes, and served the halves up with a quarter cup of melted salted butter each. Yum.

Evening all. No nappage but I did shave my beard off (heard you’re supposed to do that for the virus thing) and took a long, hot bath while solving Sudoku puzzles, so I feel good. Cheeseburger has been et and I had some Hershey’s chocolate I grabbed at the Cracker Barrel this morning for dessert.

Dot, great pictures, you have some good equipment. And take care.

Nettie, Bumba, may all your plumbing issues be settled.

Butters, yea on the soup. Do you know what you did too make it so good?

Everyone have a good night tonight.

Howdy Y’all! Been a lazy day at da cave mostly. I did go through all the bedroom drawers and re-arrange stuff. Sup was teh nummy! Little pricey however. Still we wanted catfish filets so we got 'em.

**Red **- no senior hours in this county as far as I know, and most of the folks in the store were lots younger than I am. I think it was just people thinking the way I did - get there early.

And since I was up stupid early, I’m gonna go crash now. <yawn>

So tomorrow I must venture forth for chicken and cat food. And beer:D

:frowning: Been there one that, 5 times.

cool pics. And feel better!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 55 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 84 and mostly N.O.S. for the day. I shall venture out to a sto’ that has Poopsie products on sale, specifically two liter Diet Poopsie. We like Diet Poopsie. However if it were Diet Coke products on sale, I would get those. We are, above all, cheap. Today shall also be a forage for any need to feed kind of day. We have all kinds of sammich makin’s. The excitatement around here knows no bounds!

Dots cool pics of the birdies! Hope you’re feelin’ better today.

Nettie yay that the plumbin’ woes were not as bad as thought and yay for the outin’. I know it felt good just to get out a bit.

FlyBoy I love Dungeness crab but don’t get it very often. If it’s available here it’s very spendy.

Now I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy wants to be fed. Then, alas, alack, bother, and woe, I suppose I must purtify and don appropriate bein’ about the public attire.

Happy Sattidy Y’all!

My psychic powers are ramping up. Yesterday, I told **FCD **I’d like him to go see Amish Dave and find out where our mower was in the work queue. Then in yesterday’s mail was a card from Amish Dave saying our mower was ready! Once we’re properly attired, we’ll hook the trailer to the truck and head to Loveville to retrieve our mower. Not much else planned for today.

SIL still isn’t feeling well, but no fever, so no reason to fret. **FCD **is worried because he heard a report that men with A+ blood have a higher chance of contracting the virus, plus he’s over 60… he ordered masks for all of us. And he’ll find out on Apr 13 if his surgery is still on schedule. Just a little stress there.

But no rain forecast for today, so there’s that. Happy Saturday!

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Alex Catt is snoring loud enough to be heard on the other side of the apartment. I must venture out for cat food today.

Morning all. Another lovely spring day (heading for 77F and no rain) that I’ll be doing nothing on. Well, I did toss all the dirty jeans, sweatshirts and my lightweight jacket into a cold wash, so there is that. And I could be sorting through stuff and hanging pictures, and I think I’m going to go buy that rocking chair (probably use it once or twice and forget about it). Now need to see about cushions…

FCM, I am also A+, so that was news I can use (not happy about it, but still informed is better than ignorance). Haven’t looked into masks yet (living alone helps some), but I’ll keep them in mind.

All y’all take care now.

metal mouse, so you have bandanas or handkerchiefs of that size? Rubber bands? If so, take your bandana, fold it diagonally, thread each of the diagonal ends through a rubber band, bring those ends to the front and knot. You can then hook the rubber bands over your ears and have several layers of cloth between the breathing parts of your face and the outside world. This will do more to protect others, should you be asymptomatic than you, but that’s less community spread.

Up, caffeinating, breakfasting, dog crate cleaned and a load of towels in the wash. The plan today is make a pot of soup for lunches next week and play in the studio. Yee-haw!
