Hi. I’m looking for a calendar / organiser app that can display events horizontally across days so I can easily see where crossovers occur (see example below). I currently use my own solution using MacOS Numbers but I’m keen to find something with more functionality. I know that apps such as Google Calendar can show something very similar but they always display events vertically and that makes multi day events look cluttered and generally less intuitive.
Requirements:
MacOS, iOS, or web based. ie, anything but PC.
Able to display events horizontally across days while keeping precision to five minute blocks.
Able to easily print a four week display as per the example.
I would be open to something more user friendly that I create myself such as what I’ve done with Numbers. My main problem with my Numbers solution is that it is overly complicated and therefore difficult to make changes to how it works. It’s created with over 50 individual bar graphs that I’ve painstakingly layered and aligned.
They are obviously not planning an iOS version, seems there are technical problems with Apple, but suggest ‘fantastical’ or ‘calendars 5’ for iOS users. Haven’t tried them myself, so I can’t give a recommendation.
I will check again but I think Mac calendar is like every other calendar, events are displayed vertically so they aren’t a continuous bar across multiple days. Horizontal events are only for “all day” events and don’t have any precision other than what day they are on.
Yeah. I would’ve thought it was a useful display option but it seems I’m the only person in the world who wants this. To create my own version I looked up instructions on how to create a Gantt chart because it is a similar concept, but real Gantt charts aren’t quite right either.
