Calling all Fantasy Football refugees!

Everything I’ve heard (probably less than most of you) says that at least 2-3 teams (including DAL) are desperate to trade up to 4 to get a top tackle. Seems like the Bears would be best served to take the highest bid for that pick. Although I think it would make sense to sign a qb since Kordell isn’t a long-term solution there, there will be plenty of arms to go around later on.

I think Leftwich will go to Jax.

I just cleared all my predrafts (in 429). I’ve got a plan.

I just need to pick my jaw up off the floor since I noticed that there’s one certain guy still available! What is he doing there?

Okay Munch, you’re up. I’m nervous about your pick but I’m pretty confident that if my pick can dodge you (twice) I’ll get what I want next round.

Dear gawd I love this. Do you guys have any idea what it’s like to not have any serious, knowledgable football fans to talk to? I needed this. I get all hyped up every year before the draft. Not only that, I loooove preseason football. What better soap opera is there than a bunch of “little” guys trying to claw their way into the NFL.

But then again, I’m a Vikings fan, so why should I like the regular season? It just leads to the post season.

I know what you’re talking about, mouthbreather, it seems like a strange feature of this particular draft. I had him at the top of my predrafts, never thinking he would get to me, but then of course I changed my mind and skipped him myself. We’ll see what happens next round.

Hmm, I’m not sure we talking about the same guy. I’ll discuss once he’s gone.

Dammit, I wanted Derek Mason.

Nurse: Yes I do. I’m in a league with a few guys who show up at the draft with nothing more than the fantasy football section from the local newspaper. Then they complain that I’m cheating them somehow because they finish near the bottom.
Actually, our league needs a few guys like that. It makes the pot bigger. Low risk, high reward for me, you might say.

Munch: My buddy Camel Toes is in for Monday.

WL: Leftwich to Jax makes the most sense, but you know good and well that there are several franchises that don’t seem to follow logic and reason. For example, how can anyone predict what the Cardinals will do? Good grief, they just signed Emmitt, Marcell Shipp came on strong, so maybe that’s where McGehee will wind up.

Ball’s in your court mb.

Brooks wasn’t who I was thinking  We’ll see if I can get my guy.

The Bears just traded the number 4 pick to the J-E-T-S, Jets, Jets, Jets.

I’m in (aka hustler, aka WL’s friend) for the other draft.

jax has too many holes to be picking leftwich. brunell is serviceable for a couple more years and i think they are talking about a contract extension if they already didnt complete that. they need lots of help on defense, CB, DE, S, LB etc… they need a WR to complement J Smith anyway. i bet they go defense or trade down to someone else who wants leftwich.

the Cards signed Emmitt for publicity, the only times the cards ever sell out is when the 'boys come to town. now arguably the most famous cowboy will be there every game.

I’m not involved, and I’ve only spent a bit of time looking this draft over, but FWIW, here’s some thoughts:

Charlie Garner was taken way too early.

Jamal Lewis was taken way too late.

Daunte Culpepper before Manning and McNabb??? Ooofah.

You guys are absolutely obsessed with running backs. Picking a fourth RB before a QB? Granted with 8 teams you probably won’t get stuck with a completely crappy QB, but I think the value of a great QB is underrated, and the value of an iffy rb is overrated.

Although it would be stupid to predict the outcome of a not yet completed mock draft, here’s my picks. Hell, I finished 7th last year in the SDMB, so they may not be worth the electrons they’re printed on, but here you go:

3rd place: hustler. The top QB, the top WR, and a solid group of RB (I actually like Barlow to replace Hearst this year). Not enough depth though. I was intrigued by pls reset because of Portis and Owens, but some iffy depth there, and no QB. I don’t think you could win this year with Warner or Maddox or whatever crap is left leading your team.

2nd place: CamelToes. What’s not to like on this team. Oh, wait, the weak ass receiving corps. Fantastic qb’s, wonderful rb’s (three starters who will all put up great numbers this year) make this team tough to beat. But Burris was a reach (he’ll still do fine), and talk is KJ will be on the block come season time. I wouldn’t want him anyway. Some late round gems may save the WR crew (or a trade), but this team will be carried by their qbs and rbs.

1st place: mouthbreather. He paid me $50 to pick him. O.K. he really didn’t but he’s got a heck of a good team. Bledsoe may not be the best, but he’ll put up solid numbers for you. But in McAllister, Henry, and Green he has a lot of great young talent. Whereas Faulk and James may have seen better days, these guys all have huge upsides, and are proven commodities. Moulds and Horn should be able to hold their own.

Just some idle thoughts to chew on. Good Luck.

How can I have the top QB and no QB, hehe. thanks for the praise tho. yeah my RB depth isnt so good but barber put up decent numbers and i’m counting on barlow becoming the feature back. if the niners draft a RB consider hearst off the team.

whoa, the jets go to 4… well andre johnson will still be gone by the 4th pick unless houston trades down, which i can’t see them doing. i guess the jets take robertson, still leaves my boys to take newman even tho i hope they trade to about 7-10 and pick up a 2nd rounder too.

Brooks wasn’t who I was thinking of either, the guy I was thinking of got taken before that.

The Jets? Got a link, maroon? Espn.com’s not reporting it.

it is indeed on espn.com
