So just the other day, store-clerk-slacker and I were talking about trying to get a St Louis DopeFest together, when I saw in this thread the very same suggestion.
Slacker and I were thinking of maybe getting people together for a float trip, but we’re open to suggestions. Someone mentioned Fast Eddie’s in the other thread, but I’m going to request a different place please, since that place gets filled to capacity on a regular basis and I cannot handle crowds like that well (I get seriously anxious).
Someone else tossed out an idea of going to a game. Slacker and I are always up for a game, but if we’d want to meet somewhere indoors and air condioned and in Mid County, there’s a Growlers on Olive between 270 and Lindbergh (I love Growlers) is that Mid County enough?
So come on, Dopers, let’s get something organized here.
And, in case anyone does vanity searches, that means you Tequila Mockingbird, Turbo Dog, kunilou, 5 Time Champ, Homebrew, Katisha, SanibelMan, MissBHaven, uh… that’s all I can think of of the top of my head.
I’ve never been to Growler’s, but that sounds fine by me. I wouldn’t mind a float trip, either, if we could get one organized. I’m actually going on a float trip down by Steelville for something else in a couple of weeks. The only thing about the float trip is that it would be much more difficult to organize, it would involve more travel and not everyone would be up for it the same way they might be up for, say, mozzarella sticks.
That’s a good point. Even though it was an idea we tossed around, slacker wasn’t all that hot about a float trip herself since she didn’t want everyone’s first impression of her to be one of her in her bathing suit. I liked the float trip idea just because then I could start a thread titled “Dope Floats”
Depending on when, I’m interested. Unfortunately, I work my second job Friday and Saturday nights. So if it’s a weeknight, Saturday-day or anytime Sunday, I’m interested.
Though, I’m not sure if I want to hand out with someone who’s dis’ed “The Drews”.
Ok, in the spirit of Doper togetherness, after Growlers (or wherever we decide) we’ll all go out for Imo’s pizza and then down to Ted Drew’s and order super giant concretes and have a pic taken of us enjoying them to post for the Pit thread.
Hell, maybe we can even order toasted ravioli at Growlers. I don’t remember what they serve for food, I usually only go there for the beer.
As for during the week or not, I go to school every morning Mon-Fri, then immediately following classes, I work on campus on Mondays till 8pm, off Tuesdays, and I’m there again Wed-Fri till 5:30.
The Imo’s / Ted Drewes plan sounds fine by me. My schedule is up in the air and I have about two-three week’s notice: Right now the evenings of the 21st, 22nd, 23rd, 25th, 27th, 28th, 30th and the Fri-Mon weekend of the 4th are open for me.
I’d be up for that, I think – as long as it isn’t in the first couple of weeks of July or thereabouts, as I’ll be up in Michigan visiting my family around then.
Oh yeah, the first week or so of July is no good for me either, I’m driving down to Florida to visit my mom. How would the end of this month sometime work out for people? Or what about mid or end of next month?
In all honesty I think the mid part of July would work out better. We are leaving on the 2nd and won’t be back until the 10th I think and I am picking up a ton of extra hours before we leave. (trying to anyway)
Mid-July should be fine for me. I won’t know my schedule for a while, but my GF only works a few days a week so I should be able to find one that works.
But for a true St. Louis event, shouldn’t it be at about 3:00 on a Sunday afternoon in August – say in the unshaded portion of Busch Stadium, seats in the middle of the row?
So far we have about 5 or 6 of us that are down, but we’ll wait to see how many more are interested, and then we’ll pick a date. Maybe the weekend of the 23rd?
Bean Counter is it every Friday and Saturday?? Or are you off on some of them?? I know evenings are better for me, but I can work around it.
Is anyone open to maybe going to a place on the hill? Or would that be too far into South St.Louis? There’s also Fridays, Houlihans, Hacienda…OoOo…anywhere at Westport. That time of year it’s pretty nice and there are plenty of places to check out.
For those that don’t know about Westport, it’s an outdoor mall type area, with lots of restaurants and bars to choose from.
Yes, every Friday and Saturday night from 6:30 until whenever the movies let out (1 or 2ish). I help out at my in-laws’ drive-in movie theather. If I had enough advance notice I could ask off, though.
Crunchy had mentioned something about a game? Last night when we were at the game we both commented that we should get a bunch of people together and go in on one the many suites they offer. Remebering this, I quickly went HERE and started to look up what the prices were. The most promising I think is the Ameren Power Alley. It’s for pre-game and game time. Take a look at it, see if this is something you guys might be interested in. The prices on some of them are high, but when you see what you are getting for it, it seems too good to pass up.
Of course when you figure in the cost of what you would spend to eat and drink at say a pub or restaurant that night, it would probably be about the same if not more in some cases, depending on which room or suite we all went with. (that is if we all agreed on that as being said meeting place)

I totally forgot that we have a ton of BOGO coupons for the Cards games. So anyone that would be interested in going to a game but not spending for a suite or a party room, we have the coupons.
They are good for as many tickets as we want. We purchase 30, we get 30. The best seats we can get are Loge Reserved(29.00) the worst are Upper Terrace(9.00). This could be a good alternative. We love baseball…notice how this is all we suggest.
A St. Louis lurker here. Mid July works in general. “She who must be obeyed” has said it’s fine if the actual date doesn’t conflict with her schedule of social appearances (me, pussywhipped? Why do you ask?). But I would be good with Busch, a bar or a back alley.
Pick a date and an activity and I’ll confirm if I’m in or out.
