"Can Democrats Flip a House Seat in a District Trump Won?" [In Pennsylvania, March, '18]

The depressing thing to me is that the anti-gerrymander ruling may end up helping the GOP, at least in 2018. Their zeal to try to engineer as many 60-40 districts as they could might have bit them in the ass big time. It would have been so much better if the right thing thing in a representational sense, also screwed the jackasses who gamed the system.

Down to 4. Problem( for Dems )is that there might be more outstanding votes left to count in redder counties. Could be a real nail-biter.

Lamb by 4% with 72 reporting.

ETA: Now 2.5% lead with 83% reporting.

Lamb ahead 51-48 with 78% of the vote in. Allegheny County election official says they probably won’t get the 4,000 absentee votes counted until midnight.

Yeesh, 1.4 lead. I’ve got deep family ties to Westmoreland county, but they’re not doing me proud tonight.

Feh. In Ohio when I was active they counted those FIRST and announced them right at close-of-polls.

Amateurs.

And hell, I bet they don’t count them at all if the margin of victory exceeds the outstanding absentees.

1.4% with 87% fully reporting.

At what point is a recount possible/mandated?

edit - Looks like .5% Recount laws in Pennsylvania - Ballotpedia

Lamb by .4% with 94% reporting.

EA: .5% with 95% reporting.

Man, I both love and hate Election nights.

Wonder if any markets took bets on whether there would end up being a recount?

They better start to make with the counting already!

Suddenly I’m pulling for the Libertarian guy. Go, you guy I don’t know and have never heard of!

Go!

The lesson is, children - get out and vote!

Lamb has pulled back ahead of the recount margin - currently winning by 0.6%.

102839 -101707 with 95%in. Lamb still ahead.

50-49.4 at 96% reporting

Well, no matter what, the answer to the thread question is, apparently, yes.

I’ve moved on from the OP to ‘WILL Democrats…’

I suspect if Lamb wins, the Republicans in PA will withdraw their objection to the redrawn maps very quickly.
