Until Euty clarifies what he meant, the question is open, isn’t it? One would certainly like to think that no one could consider a blowjob and a war on the same scale, but, spend enough time in GD and you’ll see that sentiment expressed by people with even more thoughtfulness than Druncle. Usually, though, it’s calling Bush’s actions “leadership” and Clinton’s “criminal”. Yes, it should be a whoosh, but no, that isn’t the default explanation.

In none of them can I find anything that remotely equates to a statement such as Elvis claims exists. That the misdeed that Clinton’s blowjob may have been equates in any moral way to Bush’s stupid war in Iraq.

I don’t think it’s a straight comparison between a blowjob and a war, anyway.
Firstly, the blowjob pretty well dominated that all-important presidential second term; if you’re ever going to do anything worthwhile it’s usually in the second half when you’re leaving anyway. Clinton was pretty well paralysed, politically speaking, for much of his. Which is probably a big shame for all those he could have given a life changing break to.
In short, what-could-have-beens actually became three years of Democratic policy down the crapper, taking with it whatever Clintons Big-Legacy–Idea might have been (you know how they like those).
Second, for a ‘war’ you need two sides; not one side and a bunch of party political die-hards – which is all Saddam had once the enlisted evaporated and the Republican Guard disappeared (almost as soon as the shooting started). It wasn’t a ‘war’ within terms I readily understand because the military and civilian population were almost entirely apathetic.
It might have been a pretty nasty, empire-consolidating thang to do, but a ‘war’ . . . ?

Without taking any sides in this, I’d just like to say that the SDMB search engine ain’t finding everything that there’s to be foiund here. On occasion, I"v ehad to search through my own posts by date to find certain items that were there. I found’em. they were there, but not showing up on searches. Go figger.
Is this kind of thing a lot of fun for all of you? One side pointing indignant fingers at “arrogant conservatives” and the other sneering at “knee-jerk liberals”? Does this solve a lot of problems? Does it answer the OP’s question, or even address it in any way?
I ask because, now that I’ve (somehow) read this entire thread, it’s totally fucking obvious that both sides came into this with brittle tempers ready to misread any possible rhetorical device to suit their own biases. I agree. But in any case, the burden of proof lies with Elvis. He made the claim; he the guy with which the responsibility lies. But I rather doubt we’ll be seeing that chickenshit in here again. It would mean he’d hafta own up to his error and I’ve yet to seem him do that on these boards.
