Can I get just a half topping?

Why is it whenever I get doughnuts with sprinkles, they’re only sprinkled on one half of the doughnut? Well, I’m not counting the bottom half here, but rather the visible glazed portion. If I buy them from the grocery store in boxes, they’re fully sprinkled, but any little “we make 'em daily” place is filled with nothing but half sprinkled doughnuts. What gives?

I’d say you need to starting frequenting a higher class of doughnut shop. I have never seen a half sprinkled doughnut.

I’d say you’re right, but this has happened enough times at enough different places that I thought it bore questioning. You think I’d waste your valuable time on a single bum doughnut?

JOPHIEL, this is a guess. The donuts you get at the supermarket come from a FACTORY where the donuts are on a conveyor belt laying flat as they pass under the ‘sprinkle matic.’
At the smaller shop I figure some body carries a tray of donuts to the sprinkle table. Only they don’t lay them out flat, they are shingled, that is each donut is on top of another half covering it, so they can get more on a tray. So only half the donut gets sprinkles. Makes sense to me since I am not very smart.
