Let me just say I have not read very many of your posts. But I did scan a few in the abortion thread, and it sounds like you took a stand that is unpopular. It also sounds like you worded your arguments maybe a little more hotly than you wanted to. I also see that you apologized for it. Unfortunately I also see that some posters didn’t accept your apology for the way you worded your posts.
So is this the reason you are leaving? I know the above people have said uncomplimentary things to you, but if that is why you are leaving, might I suggest you rethink that. This board needs the dissenting opinion. But sometimes a subject is a powder keg and tempers flare and things are said that don’t belong in GD. But as I see it, you apologized, for that I commend you.
If you stick around you might do what I do, I read alot of the threads, but reply very rarely. If I do decide to reply to a subject, I stop, read what I wrote, and sometimes I hit the back key cause I know I will regret what I wrote.

You know, you could just exercise some willpower, or maybe some self-control, and just not post anything anymore. Nobody here’s making you hit the submit button.
kputt, I’m most likely on the opposite side of any possible stance you have on anything, and your first impression in GD leaves a lot to be desired. To be honest, if you never posted another message, I don’t think I’d notice it.
With that said, this is still one of the best (if not the) best forums you will find on the internet today, and you will miss out on a chance to have reasoned discussions with some very bright people. You will find plenty of folks who likely share your opinion on a variety of topics, and also quite a few who disagree with you. The majority of them will do so in a calm, rational manner. You didn’t debate in this manner, which is why you’re catching so much shit. It has nothing to do with your particular stance on an issue.
If you do wish to remain, I can guarantee that 99% of us will eventually forget your not so grand entrance, as long as you change your method of delivery. Thanks to the search engine, an old post of your’s might pop up in a future thread you participate in, but you can just explain that that was during your phase of youthful overexuberance.
