Can we act like adults for a second?

I know, we need another thread about the election like we need another election but I really think this needs to be said.
GROW THE FUCK UP!!

You know who you are. Nearly every thread has been hijacked by head popping angry liberals or orgasmically gloating republicans, and I’ve had fucking enough. It’s an election and it’s over. It’s not the end of the world and it’s not some massive triumph. It’s more likely than not four years of the same bullshit as every other presidency we’ve had.

This message board is supposed to be about fighting ignorance, not getting into juvenile pissing contests. This was an election about the direction our country is going in for the next four years. You morons are acting as if this was some stupid sporting contest.

If you want to continue acting this way, I’m sure the message boards at whineydouchebags.net and gloatingfucktards.org will be more than happy to have you.

Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m off to have a cup of tea and actively avoid the pit and great debates for the next month.

I wish.

A cup of tea?

I’m having a sinful mug of hazelnut flavoured coffee, since I’m rained out of work today.

And I agree with you, more or less.
Still, for some people, this was a big deal. Especially for those personally affected by the define marraige initiatives. To those Dopers, I’m sorry. Just because our state went for it in droves doesn’t mean we feel that way.
For all the other partisan bullshit going on, SHUT THE FUCK UP!!!

But extra-especially for the people that are going to die in Iraq and other overseas military adventures. I’m most worried for them.

Daniel

Unfortunately, the behavior you are complaining about is PRECISELY how many adults act around here.

Ya big poopyhead, ya.

No, poopie-head!

If I bring cookies will you pour a cup for me? Do you prefer chocolate chip or oatmeal?

If only Polycarp or Tamerlane would divert our attention for awhile with a thread along the lines of “Ever shit your pants?” or “Funny things said during lovemaking”. That would, on a day like this, be quite the pleasant distraction.

Some people considered this to be the most important election they will ever see in their lives, with issues that affect them directly. High emotions have been building for over 4 years about this. There was little apathy about this.

And now, barely 12 hours after a clear winner seemed likely, and less than 2 hours after Kerry’s concession, you expect people to act with decorum and restraint? For Og’s sake, people are still reeling from this. Give them a fucking break. Let people blow off a little steam. If people are still acting like this in February, then maybe you’d have a point. But the voting booths aren’t even cold yet!

Er, I mean, You big doodoo! I’m telling!

OK, give me 2 minutes.

Or not. The board is acting all wonky today. Besides, my thread that the board ate was a prohibited joke thread anyway.

The gist of it was that at the polls last night, a very cute babe with a clipboard approached me – on behalf of the Gay and Lesbian Alliance. Talk about bad luck!

Maybe she was a PFLAG.

We have acted as adults only once. In 1960. For 20 minutes.

People have been behaving like childish jackasses for about the last two months or so.

I think they’ve had enough time to act up. I think it’s now time for them to STOP IT. I’ve had enough of the freakin’ childish hysterical shenanigans. We’ve had weeks and weeks of partisan BULLSHIT. It’s time for them to STOP IT.

Yeesh.

Too young to be a P, but maybe she’s an F. Which makes her an intelligent and conscienscious person. OK, I’m in love again.

On the day after election day? Sorry, no. If there is any one time for people to complain about the outcome of the election, today would be the day.

Now cut that out!

Hear! Hear! Or Here! Here! and Amen!

And this means BOTH parties and their supporters!

They’ve been bitching and complaining and being assholes for long enough. They’ve had plenty of time to behave like an asshole. I don’t feel too generous about cutting them any more slack. I’ve had enough of the bullshit, and I’d had enough of it before the election. In fact, several threads were started before Nov. 2 asking for people to chill out and stop behaving like assholes. That still applies.

Complaining about the election does not require that a person behave like a jackass. Some people have complained in a more rational manner. Enough is enough. I think weeks and weeks of hysterical assholishness is sufficient. Time for people to STOP IT.

You know, I hate it when people say stuff like “If you don’t like (some type of) threads, then don’t read them.” It just sounds so snarky. But being that this is the Pit, and being that the Pit is for complaining, and being that this election has given people a great deal to complain about, then I think your entreaties are likely to be ignored. Perhaps you’d be happier in a different forum for a few days.
