Can we please have a better week in the MMP?

Buddy has definitely owned humans before. He comes hurrying into the kitchen when I open the fridge. He knows there’s something interesting in there.

We’re still working on feline relations, and definitely still working on “leave the bird alone”. He’s gotten a dishtowel chucked at him a couple of times for hassling Misty. No chance of actually harming him, but it spooks him into being somewhere else.

I must report that for brunch today, I ordered shrimpies and grits, a dish new to me, in honor of @swampbear. 'Twas most yum. Then my daughter and I shopped at three different stores for the bridal shower tomorrow (he BFF’s). We had so much fun! I hate that we live so far apart. Tonight we went to a wonderful restaurant for dinner. My daughter planned my presence as a surprise for her BFF, whom we regard as family. BFF jumped up and down and whooped, so that worked. Tomorrow’s the shower.

FCM, sounds like the day, hard as it was, wasn’t as bad as you dreaded. I love the “Shots for Shawn” idea. That landlord should burn in Hell.

MetalMouse, I THOUGHT I was going to be on a train and was all happy about it. I didn’t realize Amtrak books bus trips, too, so I didn’t check. My own fault. And no worries. If you’re booked on the Starlight, you’re not going to be on a bus. Hope you have a wonderful time!

My friend who had non-Hodgkins was afraid of that, too, so I stayed with her for her first round, given in the hospital on her last day there. The nurse said she wouldn’t get sick because they’ve learned SO much about how to avoid that. She got anti-nausea meds in her IV with the chemo and had zero queasiness. Thought I’d pass it along so your mom won’t dread it so much.

Sunny, you are the sweetest. I know any hat you’d make Sari’s mom would be stylin’. Happy Birthday to Beamer and Happy Anniversary!

WetOne, happy countdown week!

shoe, you and your good-hearted customer lifted my heart. I wish there were more people like you . When my bus stopped at a small town depot/cafe en route, I went in to buy some water. The next man in line explained to the guy that he was “a traveling man” who had no money and asked the guy if he’d give him a cup of coffee.

Counter guy: Sure, if you give me a dollar. Coffee’s a dollar.
Me, in thought bubble: For frick’s sake, it’s bean water. It costs YOU under 25¢.

I bought the travelin’ man some coffee and wanted to spring for a sandwich, but the bus was boarding, and counter guy was slow. If Counter Guy had half your compassion, shoe, well, he’d have 5 times more than now. Probably FCM’s nephew’s landlord’s twin.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 66 Amurrkin out and mostly clear (partly murky?) with a predicted high of 88 with possible rain late in the afternoon. We shall see. The big plan of the day is deheathenization followed by bein’ bears who N.O,L. at the country club. Much sloth along with nappage shall ensue afterward. Any other need to feed today will be via forage. We are sans Priest again today but will have Communion from the Reserved Sacraments, so there’s that at least.

MOOOOOOM glad everyone made it through what I know was a rough day. That was great of your brother to arrange the restaurant and open bar. I like the “A Shot for Shawn” idea. The landlord is a jerk.

CupCakes chocolate covered strawberries and champagne are a great idea. If I were close by I would want to make that happen.

Nellie glad you liked the shrimpies 'n grits. The combo sounds weird but it is so nummy!

Nettie glad cat detente is still goin’ well. Buddy will figure out the no messin’ with Misty rule I am sure.

WetOne conga rats on the pendin’ retirement. You’re gonna love bein’ a retired drain on society. It is da bomb!

sari drinkin’ out of the cee-mint pond would be a little like drinkin’ out of the ocean, a mouthful of salt water. ICK!

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, purtification for deheathenization to be followed by bein’ bears who N.O,L. must commence.

Happy Sunday Y’all!

Much kitty snoozing going on. Only a couple of token hisses on Buddy’s arrival. I’ve also had a second occurrence of both of them cuddling with me at the same time (Allie in arms being hugged, Buddy snuggling against legs on ottoman). They’re still not to the point of voluntarily getting close to each other, except if one has to go past the other in a narrow spot to reach a desired location. Buddy does seem to be getting the memo about Misty, but I still don’t trust him to hang out unless there’s a human awake enough to supervise. It is a bit amusing that Allie seems to show some protective behavior toward the bird.

This waking up stupid early has got to end!!! FOUR AM!!! What the actual heck is that about??? I lay there about half an hour hoping to drop off again, but no dice. So I’ve tended the critters and watched 2 more episodes of season 2 of Bridgerton. I actually had to force myself to watch it - it’s even cheesier than the first season. And since I read all the books in the series, I know how little the series resembles its source material. It does stay true to the names of the characters, but that’s about it.

One really stupid thing that irritates me is the ever-present purple wisteria blooms on the Bridgerton mansion. Wisteria blooms for maybe 2 weeks in the spring, not year round, dammit! (deep, cleansing breaths) Yeah, I know, stupid thing to get riled up about, but what can I say?

We were originally going to work on the boat today, but FCD’s legs were really bothering him yesterday so he declared that he won’t be climbing into the engine room. He’ll futz around in his shop for a while, but that’s about it. We’re expecting rain (it’s pretty overcast and dreary out) which means no yard work. Since we’ll be picking up the inlaws in a week, I suppose I can start tidying the room they’ll use - it’s a bit of a disaster at the moment. And since it’s the 1st, Higgs gets her heartwork and flea meds today. Whatever else happens, well, we shall wing it!

FCD got a call from the body shop - they’ve moved my car in to try to figure out what else is wrong with it so they can (I guess) order parts and put the claim in with GEICO. I need to call them and have them replace his number with mine since it’s my car - they should be calling me. Will I have my car back again?? Who knows…

Happy Sunday and Happy May Day!!

Happy Sunday!

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and fixing to do KP. Aside from the usual Sunday chores and fixing supper (sweet potato - black bean enchiladas), it should be a day of messing around in the studio and sloth.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off today. The usual cleaning will occur. And perhaps I shall catch up on all my YouTube channels.

No problem. I wasn’t offended.

Morning all. Was up until nearly midnight due to afternoon nappage and stayed in until 7:45am, so should be all set. In 72 hours I’ll be winging my way to Seattle (via Dallas), so need to do all the organizing and packing in that time. Also need to let the neighbors know I’ll be MIA for a couple of weeks.

My ear aches, don’t know why, if I wasn’t going to be on travel I’d probably get it looked at, but I should be OK.

Seanette, sounds like the kitty detente is working closer, a couple more towels should convince Buddy to leave Misty alone.

Alright, do the Sunday morning internettin’ and be about the day. All y’all take care.

wet one, 41 years is quite a career; I made it 34 years in mine before retirement, hope it’s everything you’ve hoped for.

Unknown, too bad about Mom; can you give her a note or something attached to a refrigerator or some place she’s at a lot to help her remember to cancel it?

We decided Cracker Barrel needed to feed us breakfast. I just now finished weed-whacking the ditches because the grass and weeds were too tall for the mower. Later this week, I’ll rake all the leaves out of there, then mow properly.

Now? Dunno…

Is there a recipe for this, by any chance? Sounds like something DH and I would love.

FCM, one of the things I like about being retired is that I can get up anytime I please. At first I did keep waking up early because my body wasn’t used to not setting an alarm, but it’s adjusted now. I’d maybe sleep in even later if I didn’t have to walk Mauser

I’m so sorry. I hope you have a wonderful time together at the convention, enjoying each other and all of the crafts.

Woot! We’ll be keeping a countdown calendar for you. :grinning:

nettie I’m glad the cat integration is going well. How are you feeling?

I got Yoshi’s bark collar fitted correctly last night, so we were able to leave the outside door open for him and Akiko. No 3 am yelling at Invisible Mole People.

I really hope we can start tapering Akiko off of the prednisone this week. Poor baby is so miserable.

Must deal with groceries and suck for Beamer’s Birthday Bash. Happy Sunday all!

Last day for house tours. Offers are due by 1 p.m. tomorrow. Fingers crossed. Totally exhausted at this point.

Lower digestive tract calmed down, so I’m not having medication side effects. Mostly OK, maybe a little draggy.

Hope things calm down over in your world.

I cleaned and rollsucked. I got 3 complete canisters of filth. :open_mouth: I think when Gordie goes, I’m gonna adopt an Aibo :robot: :dog:

Fingers crossed for you. :four_leaf_clover:

kayT, ask and you shall receive: Black bean - sweet potato enchiladas . I use the linked salsa verde most of the time because it’s tasty and pretty easy, but you can use jarred. The jalapeños that I picked up had more heat than they usually do, so this batch packed a bit more of a punch. For potlucks, I generally go mild with them.

Sunday chores are complete and supper et. Now to mess around in the studio till bedtime.

Howdy Y’all! We deheathenated and then were bears who brunch. I said bears who N.O.L. earlier, but really it was more of a brunch. It was quite good. One can even get a custom omelet made if one desires. We had mimosas for our day drinkin’ experience today. We have even been invited again next week. Apparently we were not our usual semi-feral selves. Nappage ensued when we got back to da cave. We had a nice rain mid-afternoon so ‘tis not as hyooooooomid out as it was earlier. The biiiiiiiiig trash can has been hauled all the way down the road for pick up tomorrow. Evenin’ chillage now ensues.

Have a great evenin’ y’all!

I saw an ad on Nextdoor from a lady having a yard sale to help pay for cat food*. When I got there her grade school son had donated a couple of his toy trucks to the cause because he liked the cats and he offered to demonstrate how they worked while advising me on the fun parts. I did NOT buy a toy truck, I paid 25 bucks for a small glass bowl and hubs has changed our monthly chewy order to include a mongo bag of kibble for them.

Yes, we are suckers, why do you ask?

*apparently her neighbor moved out and left a couple of pregnant females and by the time they were all trapped and fixed she ended up caring for about 15 homeless cats.
