Jeebus, that annoying “Sent from my iPhone with tapatalk” is the “Regards, Shodan” of this place. I grit my teeth every time I see it. A cursory look says it can be turned off in the app settings. Could you guys try? Please? Just for the rest of us?
I thought, “Regards, Shodan” was the, “Regards, Shodan” of this place.
The Tapatalk stuff used to get on my nerves when I started seeing it elsewhere, starting several years back. I would think, “What makes you think I give a shit?” Then I chilled out. Still unnecessary, IMO, but so was my getting worked up over it. Too much other stuff pisses me off with actual cause, I can’t spare the energy anymore.
EDIT: OTOH, if it can be easily turned off, it would be nice if what was essentially an advertisement could be removed from people’s posts. Yeah, that would be nice.
Soon you will find out that you are entirely to blame for the fact that these kinds of things give you the shits. It is the SDMB way to point this out to you. Over and over again.
Worse is just the fact that if you’re using the forum via tapatalk, it automatically converts everything after a ‘sent from’ occurring anywhere in a post into small italic font, because apparently, the only time it expects this to be used is in its own inane sign-off.
If Tapatalk wants its ad to be in small italic font, wouldn’t it make more sense to change the font when it’s putting it in, rather than when it’s displaying it?
Whether I have the box checked or not doesn’t make a difference regarding whether it does the italics thing. It’s perhaps a difference between the iOS and Android versions… So do feel free to uncheck the box (I’ve enabled the signature for this post, but edited it to blank text, just to see what happens).
Lots of things would make more sense, including just not fucking doing it, or only doing it if it’s the last paragraph of a post, but I suppose that you can’t count on the requisite vBulletin-code being accepted by all forums, or the right fonts being present.
(Just don’t say it three times in front of a dark bathroom mirror!)
Might be a better idea than trying to read the Dope on a phone (which I’d only do when I was out on running or on my bike… gets awkward, so I just wait 'til I get home).
