I'll never forget how I learned of the quake. I was watching a NYR hockey game when this happened - they were coming to the first intermission, and the announcer said "Those of you who were going to switch to the Worlds Series, there's been an earthquake in SF and the game is delayed, so why not watch our between periods show?" WTF??? real fast channel change. At least give us an idea of the magnitude in death and damage...

NY doesn’t riot. Didn’t riot '94 Rangers (the losers in Vancouver did), Yanks in '96, '98, or '99. If you count the Jersey Devils (I don’t, but it’s about 7 miles from NYC), '95 and 2000 - no riots. Basketball? The Knicks? No riots -
