Can you tell me the name of this font?

Here it is. Apologies for the poor quality scan, it’s from a letterhead of a company I’ve been asked to design a website for. They want this font used for their logo, but first I’ve got to find the font.

Does anyone recognise it? What’s it called?

Looks like Glowworm MN Compressed

This site may be of help.

Identifont

Yes, Glowworm shows up in the list of possibles there after you’ve been through the identification process. I’m sure Can Handle The Truth hit the nail square on the head.

Glowworm is very close, but the ‘e’ isn’t right. My run through Identifont pointed to Frankfurter Medium, but that isn’t right either.

Searching for fonts similar to Glowworm in Identifont, Arbuckle Bright looks to be a possibility. Not exactly right though.

No, it’s exactly right

Ah, sorry, I should have paid attention to what you said. I was looking at Glowworm, not Glowworm Compressed.

Just a minor nitpick, but the OP’s sample looks a bit more compressed than Glowworm Compressed, but it’s closer than anything I found.

Wow, thanks guys. I’d never heard of Identifont, it’s a pretty useful tool (although it did give me Broadway Engraved when I tried - I must’ve done something wrong. I’m off to get Glowworm Compressed now!

If you have to precisely match the type in your sample, you have to start out with regular Glowworm, and compress it, rather than using the Glowworm Compressed font. Notice how the horizontal strokes are heavier than the vertical. That means the font wasn’t originally drawn that way. If you want to improve on their logo you should use Glowworm Compressed. All the strokes are the same thickness, which is the way it should be.

There’s nothing worse than an amateurish logo.
