Mrs. Homie watched this YouTube video with the kids she babysits yesterday, and even the kids were left scratching their heads.
Caucasian-looking children frolic about while the vocalist sings in English with an accent that suggests English isn’t her first language (it’s particularly apparent at 5:41)
One of the toys appears to have Korean(?) script on it. (5:52)
They appear to live in a McMansion in a neighborhood with American-looking street signage, in a community reminiscent of Miami or San Diego (8:32)
Later in the video, the children are seen playing with blocks with Cyrillic letters, and the dad is seen reading the print edition of The Sunday Nation, which is a Kenyan newspaper. You’ll have to take my word for it on these points, I’m done scouring this video and time-stamping it.
So anyway, we have what looks like to be Russian performers, singing in heavily-accented English, filming in Miami, while playing on Korean playground equipment and reading a Kenyan newspaper. Yep, that tracks.
Anyhoo, can anyone provide any insight into this bizarro children’s YouTube franchise? The channel owner seems to have her own toy line, and millions of subscribers, so she’s doing well at … whatever this is.
