It was a beautiful day yesterday for the BBQ we had to celebrate Mrs. Bookkeeper’s birthday and to replace the the traditional Canada Day one that was cancelled due to pouring rain. We played croquet on the bumpy lawn, unfortunately sans flamingos, which we couldn’t find in the stores. 
Yes finally a beautiful Saturday to enjoy in Ottawa, unless you’re selling your house and packing. 
Today was nice, but clouding over now. I just had a couple of scrap metal guys here to get rid of two freezers, a beer fridge, an old dryer and other miscellaneous metal, and I just realized I forgot to give him the BBQ and the gazebo frame. :smack:
Oh, and one of the freezers was circa June Cleaver and was too heavy to lift upstairs from the basement, so he had to chop it up with a saws-all: what a mess!

Holy shit le merde, I’ve never experienced something like that before (although the Hand’s Fireworks factory explosion was impressive, it was the next town north, so it didn’t have the same impact on me).
The biggest fireworks display in Canada’s history, and they set it off at the end of the next street over. Some politician sure must like me and the dozen or so other people on our road. I gotta say, I won’t be forgetting this sesquicentennial any time soon. Wow! Just Wow!
So, my stepson is having surgery in Montreal in September. I will be there September 12-16th for sure, then possibly Ottawa September 16th -19th. If any Dopers want to get together let me know.

But, quick question, how late do the metros run now. I will be staying in Laval, but I anticipate spending my time in Centreville and on the Plateau. (Except for surgery day/ post op Day 1 the surgical centre is in Auhuntsic) It’s been over 25 years since I lived there… any hints?

Which “here” …Montreal or Ottawa? Doesn’t matter. I’m excited to go to Eastern Canada for any trip that doesn’t involve Thunder Bay. (Because usually when I go there it’s for a funeral)
Major outages in Atlantic Canada with Bell. Both cell and land lines affected. At least we still have internet!
Hope it doesn’t last too long. Bank machines are down and I don’t keep very much cash on hand.
It’s too far out to say if I’ll be in town but definitely pencil me in!
