CanadaDope 2017: Celebrating the Sesquicentennial - "... and loving it!"

Techno peasant here.

How would i turn on the streaming of Neil Young? My Mac doesn’t have a tap on it?

Just go to CTV.ca and find the link.

I assume you could then plug the laptop into your TV through an HDMI input and select the respective “input” option from your TV menu.

Or just watch it on your laptop.

Two minutes to live Neil Young in Omemee.

Can’t get past CTV Geo constraints! Bastards!

Merry Christmas fellow Canucks.

Who wants to take the hammer and open the 2018 thread?

This was a particularly silent year for us in this thread. With the winter Olympics coming up maybe we can get more involved.

Curling should be interesting. Although the NHL isn’t in it we should still do well, and of course the women will continue to kill!

It was a quiet year probably because there wasn’t much in the way of the news that was politically divisive to the SDMB.

We need Harper back to push through an omnibus of omnibus bills, restructure our bureaucracy, engage in socially divisive culture warring, while being paranoiac towards the press/supreme court/scientific community, arrogantly dismissive towards public option, impenetrably opaque to their supporters, and demanding unwavering loyalty from party members.

Trudeau’s smiling friendly emptiness seems to be placating our Canadian sensibilities despite his party fulfilling only 26% of his campaign promises after over 2 years of governance. What a disappointment.

Top of the season to all! I hope everyone has a warm weekend with their family and friends.

And with that, I’m off x-c skiing at -25 on the 25th.

Hey Northern Piper. Your inbox for PMs is at its limit.

Clean some messages out! I don’t see an email contact in your profile.

Traditionally, the new thread has been started by the person with the most posts in the old one. As I type this, that would be Northern Piper (62), closely followed by Muffin (61). But, Leaffan, you are in the running, with 56.

I agree that it was a fairly quiet year for this thread, but if not much happened to cause us to post to it, maybe that’s not a bad thing.

I think Muffin needs a turn at starting the new thread next week (year!).

ETA: And yes. Overall it’s been a quiet year in Canada. :relaxed:

Compared to what’s happening south of 49, a quiet year where nothing much happened is golden!

Hear, hear! May we live in UNinteresting times!

I think I need to work on my electric leash (buzz and vibrate) dog-walking skill set.

I’m walking my neighbours’ two dogs for a couple of weeks while my neighbours are off skiing. Last night was the first night. There was some barking at the end of the road, but I figured that dogs will be dogs, and all was well when I arrived home with not only the same number of dogs, but the very same dogs with which I had started.

Tonight I learned that it had not gone as well the previous night as I had thought. Turns out the barking was one of the dogs pushing past the owner of the house at the end of the street when she was opening her front door. A tug of war ensued over a stuffed gorilla – the same stuffed gorilla with which the dog has absconded on several occasions by sneaking in a doggie door. That was no surprise, for that dog has always been a kleptomaniac.

OK.

Glad to see that he has agreed to do so. Looking forward to the new thread, Muffin!

And with that, I gotta run – or more correctly, gotta ski. The best GS run in the province just opened, so it’s back to the hill I go – no matter that it’s at night in the deep freeze. It’s time to go bombing on the boomers!

Sorry wrong thread. (I’ve got to update myself to these early changes)
