Key west
Police Squad!, Freaks and Geeks, and the game show “Greed”.
3rd Rock From The Sun - my sense of humor.
Strange Luck - was good.
Twin Peaks was fantastic - first year. Second year it deserved being cancelled.
Picket Fences - quirky, funny and yet real.
Dynasty, Dallas, Knots Landing, Falcon Crest…trashy, mindless entertainment a hellofalot more believable than so-called reality shows like The Bachelor and American Idol.
And the show that never even got on the air before it was cancelled:
The Liza and David Show. Damn…that woulda been good trash!!!
Well, that goes without saying. I mean, come on, it won a Saturn Award, and they canceled it! What idiots.
Firefly (not cancelled yet, but seems likely)
IIRC Dr Who was technically not cancelled, just on indefinite hiatus (ok, so it is basically the same thing)
Max Headroom
Freaks and Geeks
VR.5
Brian
(can you tell I am SF fan?)
Joel - I know Jay got the girl…well, I woudln’t call Alice a “girl”, but they were definitely going steady. And he had quite a few dalliances prior to that. What I couldn’t stand was how the writing staff just couldn’t take the damn hint. It was always “he can’t get the girl” or “he’s ugly” or “he scares kids”…did it ever occur to them that he could move past that phase?
It was this single-minded with sledgehammering their idea of what Jay was and what the show should be about that absolutely killed it. You can even see some of this attitude in the Flash eps. Heck, it begins with Jay being kicked around…and this is something that shouldn’t even have happened at all, because he was working for Duke Philips, not any of the networks that were carrying the cartoon!
Just another case where if everyone just laid off and let the show develop naturally, they would’ve had something wonderful. Such a waste.
Couldn’t agree more about the current WWE. I look at what’s out there now, and I honestly wonder why anyone even bothers anymore. Memo to Vinny Mac…when it doesn’t even qualify as entertaining anymore, it’s time to pack it in.
Yeah, he really jacked up the sex and violence sky high, showing that he’ll do anything for a buck.
I think that Vince is as bad as Jerry Springer.
I have fond memories of wrestling 10 to 15 years ago. Wrestlemania III was awesome (I had a copy of the tape, but it ended half way through the Hulk Hogan VS Aundrey the Giant match.) To bad I can’t say the same about wrestling now a days.
And memo to Hulk, when you’re doing 10-10-2-20 commercials with ALF, you know that your career is over.
Another vote for Family Guy and Twin Peaks.
I’d also like to add Murder One and Vengeance Unlimited. Both were interesting to watch and vastly different from the average show.
I’m totally with you - that is still one of my favorite shows - danish tv is currently showing it for the 3th time and I’m watching it again
I really couldn’t belive they canceled it when they did, so many loose ends to tie up - same with Dark Angel, I wish I could see more of that too.
Mary Cherry was my favorite character, absolutely great
I’m sad that they canceled Talk Soup when they did. I didn’t watch it, because I didn’t like it, until Aisha Tyler hosted it. I saw one episode with her in it, and got hooked. The jokes, when told by anyone else, were lame, but she made them funny. I mean, when she was on vacation, or doing something else, and there were guest hosts on, the show just wasn’t as good.
I thought about trying to watch her other show, The Fith Wheel, but that probably wouldn’t be the same either.
Ooooh, Blinx—can you get me tapes of Popular? Do Danish and US VCRs have the same setup?
Fuck Fox. And Fock Fux while we’re at it. Buncha clowns. I’ll second Family Guy, The Tick, AND Greg the Bunny. Also, the extremely short-lived Pasadena seemed like it might be interesting, but they didn’t even give it a chance. Guess they had to make room for the dumb-ass “reality” show of the week.
I also second Freaks and Geeks. And I don’t think anyone has mentioned Austin Stories; it was a really great, kind of offbeat series on MTV, which they just inexplicably stopped showing.
Roswell
I believe it only aired eight episodes before it was canceled. But God, I miss that show.
I’m still annoyed at all the animated series that get cancelled…
Futurama
Family Guy
Duckman
The Critic
Clerks (that one was just criminal)
Wow, all my favourite shows are (were?) animated. I’d never realised that before.
I’m still pissed that ABC canceled thirtysomething.
And I’m pretty sure that UPN has canceled Haunted since it wasn’t on last week. I just love Matthew Fox.
Apparently, my wife and I were the only ones who enjoyed the X-Files spinoff, The Lone Gunmen.
On the Sunday edition of Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim, I was sad to see that there was such a small amout of episodes for the Oblongs. Yeah, It started off as an internet cartoon, and maybe it’s still being made there, I don’t know, I’ve never been to the web site, but I’m just talking about the tv cartoon. At first I thought I’d hate it, but after a few episodes, I grew to like it.
And another cartoon I miss from the Adult Swim line up is Mission Hill. I wouldn’t mind getting rid of The Brack Show and Ripping Friends though.
