Candy bars that must be brought back

Why won’t someone bring back the Marathon Bar? Who ever does it would make a fortune.
I’d also like the banana Charleston Chew back.

Big Buddy!

A Canadian bar, and ah, yes, they were great.

Also MIA in Canada:

Coffee Ripple,

Neilson’s Liquid Four Flavours,

Neilson’s Treasures

Neilson’s Danish

CaraMac

Lowney’s Nut Milk

WigWag
Back from oblivion: Neilson’s Burnt Almond – I had one last week for the first time in about 25 years – couldn’t believe it!

Hard to find, but still out there – Lowney’s Caravan

I haven’t thought about those in years. They were good.

My mom used to buy these for herself thinking us kids wouldn’t eat them. They tasted like crap to us kids, but they were still chocolate and we ate them.

I believe Mars put out a Snik Snak bar, which was a better version of Hershey’s Kit Kat.

I still prefer the old, old Mars almond bars, where the almonds sat on top of the nougat, and there was no caramel.

I can’t find a picture anywhere, but here’s an old commercial on YouTube.

In Canada and the UK, there has always been a Mars bar. Someone tried to tell me once that it was the same as the US Milky Way bar, but I found that was not really the case. Our Mars bar has more caramel and nougat in it, and not so much whipped chocolate in the bottom.

Zagnut
Chunky
Marathon, they last a long, long time.
Jungle Jollies Grape -(contacted the company in Argentina 10 yrs ago, and they discontinued grape.)
Delpha (Delfa?) rolls, the ribbon-strip red likkerish.
Red Nibs
Black Jacks (pink/white/black anise-flavor taffy)
Bubble Gum Flavor Now & Laters (discontinued, I believe)
Choco-Lite
PB Log
Some kind of big-square-of-gum with a Smile-face on it.
And Wacky Packages.
JuJuBees, circa 1979.
When Jolly Rancher made “Apple Stix” & “Fire Stix”, they were all good, but those were my favorites.

I’m glad somebody else remembers the Choco-Lite. What makes their disappearance all the more puzzling is that frothy chocolate bars remain available in the UK and Canada; in addition to the already-mentioned Aero there’s a less airy but quite tasty bar from Cadbury called the Mirage, which I discovered while in Montreal last August. Why do Canadians get bubbly chocolate and Americans don’t?

I’m a big fan of the mint & chocolate combination, so I’d like to see the Hershey’s Cookies & Mint return, and the mint KitKat (a limited-edition Christmas treat), preferably the dark chocolate mint KitKat. And the plain dark chocolate KitKat, for that matter.

Not a bar, but I’d like to see Adams Sour Orange chewing gum again. The apple and cherry flavors briefly returned from the dead, and I was thrilled, but I still miss the original orange.

Is the original Carnation Breakfast Bar close enough to a candy bar?

I would kill for a Bonomo’s Turkish Taffy and spent ages trying to find it. Alas, the ONE company that made it, closed. That being said, according to the website you linked to, it will soon become available again (and apparently taste exactly the same). I wish it were true. Frankly I doubt both claims.

French Chew Taffy is a reasonable, if not exact, substitute. http://www.frenchchewtaffy.com/home_page.php

The Snickers with Almonds bar is decidedly not equivalent to the Mars Bar. I remember writing to the company (Mars) and asking what happened to the Mars bar. They tried to give me the old “we just changed the name” line, but I pointed out to them that the nougat was definitely different, and the quantity of caramel to nougat was also not the same as the original Mars bar.

As posted above, the true Mars Bar (at least the one I’ve been eating since the early 1980s in the USA) has been brought back after having been discontinued in 2000. I bought an entire box at Wal-Mart yesterday upon discovering them, and searched around on the internet today to see if anyone else noticed that they’re back. A few people have noticed, actually.

I noticed, and actually bought one, but then I got distracted by the Cadbury Eggs.
