Captain America: Civil War trailer

Given that I think his incarnation of that particular character is unilaterally terrible, this was the worst part of the trailer for me.

I got chills at Underoos. Literally.

Wait, whose incarnation? When has this particular version of that particular character appeared prior to this trailer?

“That particular character”? It’s in the trailer. Is it still a spoiler?

Presumably naming the character would ruin the surprise in the trailer for anyone who reads the thread before watching the new trailer.

After seeing this trailer, I understand even LESS about the movie.

I figured it the movie centered around Bucky and Cap protecting him and Tony wanting to get him.

Now it seems as if it’s a training exercise for the new Avengers gone south?

I’m still super excited, but now more confused.

You do know this is a brand new one, right?

Which is exactly how a trailer should be.

" You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means. "

Why would they care about Bucky? He’s not a super, afaik.

Well, he’s got that bionic arm.

He also received some sort of version of the super soldier serum, considering his skills. He’s certainly more of a super than Hawkeye or Black Widow.

Zola was already experimenting on him when Steve found him strapped to the table in the first Captain America movie. That’s the (fanwank? canon?) explanation as to how he survived falling from the train.

I assume it was planned. Unlike the Cylons, Marvel does seem to have a plan.

Black Panther looks badass.

Yeah, that’s what I was referring to. I don’t think they made it explicit, but I pretty sure they were trying to recreate the serum with him.

The last scene did not seem to fit the theme of the rest of the trailer at all, it looked like they were just goofing off.

Sure. But he’s hardly a danger like the Vision or other mutants who can destroy whole city blocks- or whole cities or hell,* the whole world.*

Well, it looks like there are two main plots to the movie.

  1. The government wants to control the Avengers.
  2. Everyone is trying to figure out what to do with a formerly brainwashed assassins who may have killed Tony’s parents.

There are no mutants in the MCU. By the greatest power of all, Hollywood contracts.

And in the MCU, the most powerful entities seem to be the Vision, who is on Tony’s side, Tony and Rhodes (thank to the suits), Hulk (who is AWOL, and who laughs at puny humans anyway), and Thor, who is back in Asgard and won’t be around for this movie. So there isn’t anyone that overpowered still running free, so why not concentrate on Bucky?

Well apart from the fact that he was actually doing all those things and the Vision wasn’t. They are going after Bucky for the stuff he DID, not what he might do.

If we’re being honest, Ant-Man is probably the single biggest threat on Team Cap.
