He also pulled a hit-and-run in GQ, posting some really stupid comments to the effect that Jesus was not Jewish. (They are stupid because they are illogical and based on error, not because of their conclusions.)

Moreover, of the 2,025,464 violent crimes committed by blacks in 1994, 1,140,670 were against whites – that’s slightly over 56 percent. Whites committed 5,114,692 violent crimes; 135,360, or 2.6 percent were against blacks. (ibid).
In 1997, there were 2,336 whites charged with
anti-black crimes and 718 blacks charged with anti-white crimes, so-called hate crimes. Although the absolute number of white offenders was larger, the black rate per 100,000 of the population was greater, making blacks twice as likely to commit hate crimes. (ibid)
I contend that these statistics raise at least a presumption that my assertion above is correct.

-And to respond to your last post, correlation is not causality. Unless you can eliminate other factors (income, education, background) there’s no way to prove your assertion.

I won’t try to refute you with statistics because I haven’t got any. I will propose, however, an alternative explanation.
Race and SES (socio-economic status) are, regrettably, tightly correlated in this country. I don’t know the numbers, but I think I can safely say that the population who lives below the poverty line is disproportionately black and hispanic. So, let me propose, instead, that if we divide the population into ‘rich’ and ‘poor’ (and I don’t know how to draw that line, I confess) that you would see exactly the same discrepancy. Poor commit violent crimes against rich much more than rich commit violent crimes against poor, in summary.
In other words, race is a covariant with SES, which is the primary factor.

However, there is a certain ironic justice in continuing to keep the thread name near the top, since the man is a racist. But I have talked to him, and he was nothing if not pleasant and friendly to me. I am frankly finding it hard to reconcile those two perceptions; perhaps I’m more naive than I thought.
Nor did I say I had proved it. But I did say that I had advanced enough to at least give rise to a presumption, a prima facie showing. I would contend it is enough to shift the burden to the other side.
I simply say that blacks are more violent and criminally minded than whites, and offer statistics that show more blacks commit crimes on whites than the reverse. It’s now in your court to at least offer a credible alternative.
Which, in fairness, I guess you’ve offered. I won’t make you hunt for a cite; I agree that blacks are generally of lower income than whites, and so an equally credible hypothesis is that income level is responsible for violent crime.

I don’t think screaming racist at Capt Ed was a fair response… but I’m not willing to argue this side of the debate; it makes me ill. But I hope, in my abortive attempt, I’ve shown that there’s more value in argument than dismissive name-calling. That’s all I wanted.
I submit that poverty is not the major determining factor in crime. It’s poverty plus overcrowding.
Captain Ed steal the point from a racist website that poor whites in the south do not have the same propensity for committing violent crimes as do blacks. Poor whites tend to live predominately in rural areas, where they have plenty of breathing space. Poor blacks, on the other hand, tend to be urban dwellers, frequently living in housing projects where they’re packed in like freaking sardines. Combine grinding poverty with lack of available personal space, stir, and bingo, you have a lot of people going crazy.
I’d like to see some statistics on crime rates for urban vs. rural blacks. I’d be willing to bet that crime rates among rural blacks come a lot closer to crime rates for us white folk.

Whether or not he is a racist scumbag (for my money he is), he is a troll:
He has turned up here and spammed the MB with cut and paste jobs from a variety of hate sites. Yesterday morning (c. 6.00 am CT) he started three separate threads in Great Debates in the space of an hour. Only one of them contained any explicit proposition that was capable of forming the basis for debate (US aid to Israel and the Occupied Territories).
In common with many racists, he will not say what he means. He is attempting to proceed by insinuation and implication, which is simply not a viable way of conducting a debate.
If he thinks that blacks are more violent than whites, let him say so, and provide some evidence. If he doesn’t like blacks, Jews, Welshmen or anybody else, let him say so.
But do not give credibility to his weasle words, insinuations, nods and winks.
And he still doesn’t mean “glossary”. If the man can’t be bothered to look a word up in a dictionary, does he deserve to be taken seriously?

Did it ever occur to you hate-mongers that the whites that suffer from black assaults, now, are reaping the anger that you idiots sowed for 350 years?
For 200 years black women were raped with impunity by white slaveholders. (Not all slaveholders raped their slaves, but those who did were not held accountable.) Once blacks were allowed to shed their physical chains, you guys then spent the next 80 years on a campaign of terror, lynching around 6,000 blacks (including pregnant women) usually under the false cry of vengeance for the rape of white women that never occurred.
Now that the black population is no longer cowering behind their shutters while you guys in white sheets parade down their streets, you want to try to raise that false threat, again. (You know, I have never seen a Klan sheet with a point on it–must be what’s inside.)
You may have been “punishing” blacks for raping whites back in “your day,” but the evidence says that most of the blacks you “punished” were innocent.
