Interesting on the surface and certainly marks a rebuilding trend for the Bengals. Personally I don’t know how to feel other than that since Carson has been here he’s been a company man, saying all the right things, a consummate professional but I get the impression that he’s sick of Mike Brown. Hey, join the club, Carson!
Carson gets my Kudos for putting up with a very crappy franchise, and I can’t really fault him for wanting to get the hell out. You gotta hope that Brown and Co. get the message and make some changes to how that franchise is run.
Man if I was a GM who need a Qb Palmer would be a hard one to put a price on. At time he has shown Top talent. But a few injuries and the last couple years havn’t been great. You wouldn’t want to get carried away in a bidding war but i would say he is around a 15-18 QB right now, with potential to make a huge move either direction.
The Vikings have some weapons to put around him, with the league’s best running back and two of its best receivers. If we somehow acquire Carson Palmer and draft for the O-line (we could use a center or a tackle), we could be in good shape. Palmer’s exactly the kind of QB the Purple needs to fall into its hands.
There’s also the possibility that this is a power play on the part of Carson Palmer (and maybe collusion with Marvin Lewis) to get Mike Brown to blink and jettison Bob Bratkowski the offensive coordinator. Several players don’t like his scheme and Carson I believe is one of them.
Don’t buy that silly meme. NFL is a team game and no QB can rise that high above a poor team. hell he is not even on the field for half the game. QBs get too much blame and too much credit. Even Peyton can not do well if his offensive line does not give him time.
Palmer has insinuated that he’d be fine with retiring if he doesn’t get his way. If I’m a GM, I’m not sure I want a guy on my team who has one foot out the door who has played as thoroughly mediocre as Carson Palmer.
How do you feel about good players, behind good lines, playing for good coaches being in a bad situations? Sometimes, it’s not a matter of talent. It’s environmental.
I was thinking that he was much older than he was; he’s only 31. He might have 5-6 good years left. I doubt he’s ever going to be better than “pretty good” again, but there are teams that could use pretty good.
Does he realize he’s the primary cause of all the misery? C’mon, you can’t be a successful quaterback with T.O. and 85 spreading wide? Where ya gonna go, Carson? Bloomindale High School as Assistant Equipment Manager?
