Cat needs a name!

Pita.

You need to sell your cats name to the highest bidder on ebay.
Look at how well Opal did selling the naming rights for
her snail.

Schrodinger.

I like Hastur’s suggestion of Bast too (though Bast was female, of course).

Thanks for all the suggestions! Sorry not to get back till now, had problems with my home PC over the weekend…

Schrodinger is cute, though a bit of a mouthful for my Japanese family. Maybe his first name (Erwin) - we do have a turtle named Ed, named after Edwin Hubble. (No deep reason there)

Halloween and Samhaim are nice too. “Dog” is too confusing since he lives with dog. Shadow is also appropriate - he follows us everywhere, even tries to get into the bathroom. There are a couple of suggestions which I don’t get the references to (Anniken? Snowflake??)

Anyway thanks again, we’ll talk it over and see…

How about Maru?

The photo link has the name Kobayashi in it, and the first thing I thought of was the Starfleet Training Simulation from Star Trek.

To me, a “no-win” scenario seems to fit a cat.

scr4: Anniken is the name of young Darth Vader

Venoma: my neighbor has a cat named Samhain. Little black bundle of love.

I hope you will let us know what you name the lil’ guy.

BOOGER-- of course

Mandu. You can introduce him, “This is my cat, Mandu.”

Snowflake for a black cat is like calling your tall friend Shorty.
Eh, she’s thirteen. I don’t get half the stuff she says anyway.

I got to push for Tyson again since that might work for your family. I mean as I remember it Taisen(which sounds an awful lot like Tyson) means great war in japanese:-) (And we know kitties are always at war with their humans.)

My new little black kitty is named Maeve after the Irish Queen of legend. Her consort’s name was Aillil, you might use that. However pronounciation could be a problem as I have no idea what it’s supposed to be. How about Bran? I think that its gaelic meaning is something to do with ravens.

I like to name my pets after I get a feel for their personality. Wait just a little longer, it will come to you on your own.

“Annikin” is actually spelled “Anakin”. Might be more recognizable that way.

My suggestions?

  1. Bongo. Bongo is the perfect name for any cat. “Bongo! C’mere, Bongo!”

  2. Goober. Every cat is a bit of a goober at some point.

  3. Opal. For the simple reason that when the cat comes into the room, you can say “Hi, Opal!” and only you will “get it”.

It depends on the personality, but I do like Bongo and Merlin.

Mercator, Aleph, Tansu, Tannin, Argon, Rin-tin-tin, Colbin, Puma, Sunoco.

Top choice there, young Ace.
