Yeah, I remember this. olives was fairly new on the boards and had several times mentioned what a sexually liberated upbringing she’d had, and then in another thread she morphed into an abuse survivor who couldn’t enjoy sex at all. As Dio says, we’d had a few attention-seeking liars just prior to that, and thinking we had another one was an easy mistake to make.

I just looked at it again to refresh my memory. One said she had great overly explicit sex education from her aunts and was whacky in the sack when she was 18. The other said she was having trouble nowadays with her husband that she thinks is related to abuse she suffered from a stepfather before she was 18. It’s simply not a factual contradiction and several people familiar with abuse survivors pointed out that it’s not an unusual emotional dichotomy. Dio even said so himself

I never would have called bullshit on this thread (by itself), but if I had seen the other one first, I would have thought it had some unbelievable or at least exaggerated elements to it. I guess that would be in keeping with what some people are saying about abuse victims, though.

Then we get a very typical Diogenes exchange.
